“Awesome atmosphere, good food, but not mouth watering.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

I love flavourful food. I like a spicy kick, but can do without it (there wasn't one) if there is plenty of flavour. I found the food a little underwhelming in the flavour department. Melt in your mouth meats, gorgeously presented, and tasty deserts. Incredible tender meats. We did some sharing. The Tuna starter was beautiful. So delicious. The Octopus wasn't. nice. The pork belly was amazingly tender and tasty. The Rogan josh was a bit too sweet and nothing on the table had any kick whatsoever. I was excited to have the Unripe Papaya salad. This being Asian-Fusion, I thought It would at least bear some resemblance to Som Tam. It didn't. No lime, no chilies, orange broad strips of papaya...absolutely tasteless. None of the salads at the table of 12 people were dressed at all. None were eaten. 8 of the 12 diners loved their meal. I wasn't amazed.

The service was awesome, the setting was really, really special. My food experience was largely due to my preference for bolder flavour. People who want lighter flavours will enjoy it even more, so i give the entire experience 4 out of 5 despite not loving my meal. My wife wants to return and she was very happy.

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

What an amazing setting and food to match, if you in the area you don't want to miss out. Would highly recommend the whole experience. If you go for dinner go a bit earlier to have a look at the stunning views.

“Unbeatable Culinary Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

We were recently given a dinner voucher for R1000 by some friends for Indochine Restaurant at Delaire Graff Estate. My husband and I booked a reservation for 730pm on Saturday evening. When we arrived at the entrace to the estate, the guard was expecting us and told us where to park. The sun was setting and it couldn't have been a more beautiful evening. The location of Delaire Graff is second to none and completely breathtaking with views to Table Mountain on one side and to Franschhoek on the other. A driver in a golf cart was waiting for us in the parking lot to escort us to the restaurant just a short ride away. We were greeted by a very friendly manager who lead us to our table. Our dinner consisted of 5 courses (Amuse-Bouche compliments of the chef, starters, palate cleansers, main and dessert). Every mouthful was an experience in itself. It is advisable to order every course, as the portions are quite small, although we certainly did not leave feeling empty. They have an extensive wine menu with bottles starting at around R400 which we found a bit pricey, but as this is not a restaurant you'd be visiting every month, it's certainly worth every penny. I ordered a lamb curry as my main course and the meat was slightly tough, and the chef said he wasn't happy with it either, so they did not charge us for it.

*NB* For 1 couple eating 5 courses each and 1 (reasonably priced) bottle of wine you can be expected to pay no less than R1000.00 for the meal.

“Exceptional delicate and well balanced asian flavours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

This is an exceptional restaurant on top of a low mountain pass. The South African contemporary art collection is well worth seeing in itself. The views on a clear day, or evening, breathtaking at sunset and during the day.
The staff is well trained and polite (usually)
The food outstanding. I eat in a lot of restaurants worldwide this one ranks with he best.
Do not expect a local SA ambience, one can get that anywhere in the Cape. The ambience is contemporary luxurious world standard, the gardens and setting the best the Cape has to offer.
The food in Indochine not cheap but then it is the best in Asian fusion cooking. Be prepared for a unique food experience complimented by local very good wines. I often eat in this place with friends, local and international and have never been dissappointed.
