“German influence in Stellenbosch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

Excellent 'German style' brunch / lunch selection with first class South African wines to complement your visit. Can also participate in a friendly and professionally run wine cellar for tasting. Highly recommended, good value for money

“A very nice experience, tasty and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Excellent service, very welcoming, helpful and friendly without being intrusive. The new menu is very interesting and creative. The food is tasty
, and the atmosphere very relaxing. Make sure to try the Springbok Carpaccio (fresh and excellent) and the Karl's Biltong Salad is you go for a "light" meal.

“Romantic setting with wonderful food and wine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We initially went for wine tasting but stayed for lunch and were not disappointed. The wine tasting takes place in a cosy cellar with a fireplace lots of brick, stone and wood. The staff were knowledgeable and very helpful. Our favorite turned out to be the one with limited production, albeit limited sales of one bottle per person...so we proceeded to buy a bottle (2009 Vera cruz)for lunch.
Lunch was delightful with a number of savory choices...hearty vegetable soup, giant vegetable spring roll, bobotie (ground ostrich stew) with saffron rice, eggplant vegetables layered with parmesan crisp, dessert was of course the sticky toffee pudding or Malva . Homemade breads were served to compliment the meals.

We expected great wines but have definitely been overwhelmed with the great foods of South Africa

“Always generous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

The views alone make this worth it; from driving in with vineyards and mountains in full view, to the forest-like entrance, and the beautiful gardens of the restaurant. The owners are generally around to welcome visitors, and make recommendations from the menu. When the menu changes, they always include the favourites, such as the Karoo lamb shank which comes with its own story (much of the lamb we get in Cape Town these days doesn't have the classic Karoo flavour because the lambs go to holding pens for up to a month en route! So the owner herself made it a mission to find the genuine article!)
The garden is really beautiful, the vibe is super-relaxed, the portions are generous and once a year there is the amazing "dollar deal" which is hotly contested but worth the wait if you can get a place!
All in all really an awesome experience for the entire family.

“Delicious food and views for a moderate price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

I really like the wonderful nature and views at this winery. The restaurant is simple but very good and fresh food for a reasonable price. The tasting in the cellar was nice and I enjoyed the good wines.
