We have just returned from a holiday in Western Cape and Durban. We had lunch here on Saturday 27 October and it was the best meal we had during the whole of our trip to South Africa. I was with my elderly mother and we had made a reservation. It was a glorious warm and sunny day. Mum was very impressed with the beautiful room – starched white tablecloths and heavy cutlery and nice paintings - with stunning views over the lakes and vineyards. Haylene was our waitress and she was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. The cost for 4 courses was R198. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. I started with prawn and avocado salad and then pork. Mum had salmon mousse rolls and then stuffed lychees. For the main course we both opted for fillet steak (supplement of R16). For desserts we had mango and caramel cheese cake, and white chocolate and strawberry terrine. Each course was accompanied by good quality wines. I think there were two glasses of red and two of white. At the end of the meal we were given a ‘digestif’. We ordered two coffees and had a bottle of sparkling water. The total bill came to R476 which offers fantastic value. This restaurant deserves to be Number 1 for quality of food, presentation, atmosphere, views and quality of food. We will definitely be back, again and again….
