“Great Service, Nice Rooms, Great Restaurant,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Our friends were dropping us off at the hotel, after a long Garden Route trip. We had a triathlon bike, IronMan gear and four cases of wine with us, with no drop off spot in front of the hotel. By the time we had unloaded our luggage a few meters down the street, a staff member had noticed our plight and came properly equipped to haul all our stuff back to the hotel. Check in was a breeze and we were out on Dorp Street for a leisurely stroll. A very nice cafe right next door for a jolt of caffeine and we started looking for a place to eat. Look no further than the hotel's restaurant. We started at the hotel bar, where a very knowledgeable barkeep recommended an excellent wine, which saw us through dinner.
Breakfast was excellent.
The rooms are a bit tight and don't really have a view. The hotel is seems to be a collection of houses, which were somehow connected together to make a larger entity. Very well done!

Room Tip: No one room is alike in this hotel. I would suggest a room on the back side of the hotel, since you...

Helenas Restaurant at the Coopmanhuijs Boutique Hotel and Spa is a welcome break after too many too predictable lunches and dinners.

Excellent food, excellent wine with extremely good service is what this restaurant is about. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will take the drive back to Stellenbosch for just this experience.

Well done to a establishment that is head and shoulders above the rest.

Room Tip: I have stayed here a few times and all the rooms are perfect. Choose to suite your needs.

This is a very very nice hotel situated in an old house with style, decor and a most charming general manager. We spent some time in the evenings at the bar with a very friendly bar man who introduced us to some great quality wines. What a place to stay, Stellenbosch is truly remarkable in that it is so friendly, easily accessible and offers so much to do. This hotel is right in The middle of everything and perfect in so many respects. Parking was no problem as the hotel staff parked the car in an underground parkinglot. They got the car at an instance notice so no problem with accessibility. We stayed in room 6, it was really nice as it has a balcony. The only thing I would say is that without the balcony we would have been hard pushed for space as the room was very small. The balcony made up for that though. The bathroom was great size. A very very good choice hotel if you go to Stellenbosch and want to stay right I. The centre.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room and not the one next to the dining area as it could get noisy. It is an old h...

We stayed for 3nights ...its a beautiful hotel but very expensive...Stellenbosch is beautiful..but everything shuts at 10 pm..
Visitors should also be aware that when using an ATM ..do it on a week day and go inside the bank ..where there is security. We had our bank card stolen ...so quick so clever.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking the pool.

When one is on holiday, nothing tops it like friendliness at an abode like home, albeit temporary. Staff welcome and friendliness is a '10' from reception to restaurant! I also like that the hotel listens to one's needs; my 19 year old daughter was accommodated at a good rate for a single because she couldn't share our petite double room. In the end, we stayed in room #16 (simplicity at its loveliest - this is not as petite but with a bathroom quite ample) . She below us in #12 with no views but all great for good sleep. We certainly enjoyed our one-night stay and would return if we had the chance.

My friend and I stayed here for 5 nights on a recent holiday. The welcome was so friendly and warm, and every single member of staff went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The breakfast was glorious, with fresh local fruits and a real cosy home made feel. The rooms were spacious and well equipped with everything having been thought of in detail so that all we had left was to enjoy the great location in the very heart of Stellenbosch. Whenever we had any crazy ideas about what we wanted to do with our day there was suddenly a whole army of people around to make it happen or advise is on how to tweak our ideas to improve them. Bravo. Brilliant, just brilliant.

We picked this hotel because it had a spa and after s week of driving we needed a massage. When we rang to book Joanne couldn't have been more helpful and when we arrived she again made us feel like we were at home. All of the staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are great, the food sensational and the location perfect. The massage from Dayna was one of the best I have had This would be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to stay in.
