I found Keith on tripadvisor as my husband and I were going to stay in Stellenbosch for a couple of days and wanted to see a wine country and Capetown with a good guide. On our first day we enjoyed visiting several wineries and not only we tried some fantastic South African wine, met great people at the estates, had a lunch in beautiful restaurant in Franschhoek and browsed through some shops, but most of all we enjoyed Keith’s company. For the second day we really had nothing planned, all we knew we wanted to see Capetown. “Is that all you want?”, - asked Keith with amusement and a twinkle in the eye. And so our second day started from a drive to Cape of Good Hope and the scenic route back, where we stopped along the way and marvelled at the beauty of this country. After that we had a tour of Capetown (yes, including Table Mountain!) and finally were left to wonder on our own on the Mall, where Keith picked up us later and drove back to Stellenbosch. My brief itinerary of these two days might leave you wonder what was so great about Keith as a guide as all the places seem to be obvious tourist choices, but you see, it’s not about the places or even Keith’s knowledge about them. He manages to make your tour more like a family trip. He is your great uncle who you visited for the first time and he proudly showed you around the country he grew up in. He is sharing personal stories with you, he is humorous, very attentive and finds things that are interesting just for you. He is the person you regard as a friend after you leave, not a tour guide. I can write so much more about him, but really I will just repeat what other people already said before in previous comments. So Keith, thank for helping us to fall in love with South Africa and we hope to see you again one day in your famous hat!
