We have eaten at Cuvee on many occasions in the past but for many reasons, not recently so we decided we should try their winter special. The ambience and decor are really lovely and the log fire kept the restaurant warm and cosy. The food at Cuvee has always been consistently very good but we were really impressed by the wild mushroom risotto made by one of their new up and coming chefs. It was without a doubt the best we have eaten anywhere on our travels. The lamb main course was simply delicious with minimal fat. The wines are inexpensive and you can have them by the glass. Simsonsig is renowned for being the first estate in S.A. to make a Cap Classique and this is also readily available by the glass at a very reasonable price. Dirk and his waitresses were excellent - the service was friendly and efficient
and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and will definitely be back soon.
Allow time to do the wine tasting beforehand as Simsonsig has some excellent wines. Their Curvee Royale 2007 would easily pass as a French champagne in a blind tasting - superb!
