“Very tasty food--good kitchen--spotty staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

We ate twice at Red's, lunch both times. Our group both days was 8 people. Since there isn't a table for 8, tables had to be put together to accommodate our size. The first day, it almost seemed to annoy our waitress to do this. She later told us it was her first day on the job, so perhaps it was the unfamiliarity with making changes rather than annoyance, and the awkwardness of having to ask others what to do for a larger group.

On our return visit, my wife requested a different location from the day before so we could have a view of the golf course while we ate. Apparently, the area she wanted for our seats was designated for the "regulars" or "golfers" and we were put back at the same tables from the day before. That, along with the lack of gluten free options on their menu (all of one) did not sit well with my wife. First time we were not given the seating area of our choice at a restaurant where we were the first group to arrive for lunch. If it was the busy season, we would have been more understanding. Late May on a Wednesday? Only 4 other tables were used in the dining area the entire time we were there--there was no lunch rush!

Fortunately, our server made up for all the shortcomings of the policies of the restaurant. He was wonderful, making sure changes would be made to food to take care of my wife's dietary restrictions/needs. No problem with 3 separate checks so we could take advantage of the $50 per day per room credits our package provided. We never ran short of tea or water in any of our glasses at any time because he was so attentive (the day before, we tired of waiting for the waitress to come back out of the kitchen and ended up pouring our own refills from the pitchers on the counter--it was her first day, remember?), Sammy was wonderful!

i had the turkey Reuben the first day and it was outstanding--made with real pieces of roast turkey, not the standard packaged thin sliced. Great marbled rye bread, wonderful dressing and well drained sauerkraut. Wow. The food was first rate. The onion rings were excellent, very hot, very crisp, and oil free. My fries came out later on a separate plate and were only warm, which i assume was the fault of the waitress. The seasoning salt on the fries was a nice touch. Might have sent them back, but the next time i saw the waitress was when she came to clear the table and bring our checks.

My second lunch was the Shrimp Poor Boy. After the perfect Reuben, i had high hopes for the Po Boy. And it too was amazing. Hand battered, big meaty extra large shrimp, this was truly a great sandwich. Great dressing, absolutely grease free deep fried shrimp. Wow. The onion rings which were perfect the day before this day were not as crisply fried. Still good, just not crisp.

Others in the group had burgers and salads, both the cobb and southwestern. Everyone seemed pleased with their food both days. What a difference it makes to have a waiter who understands and is happy to accommodate those who must eat gluten free and takes care of things. Sammy was fantastic!

“Great atmosphere, could improve”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Red's is situated right on the edge of a golf course at the Wigwam. It was very pleasant being able to dine outdoors. The restaurant could improve in service (was slow) and food preparation (many at our table ordered fish and some were burnt while others were undercooked). Overall, I'd recommend you give it a try.

“Dirty Men's Bathroom”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

There is something about how you feel about a restaurant, and the staff when the washrooms are extremely dirty.
That being said - breakfast potatoes were good,
Water glasses not clean, coffee weak. Staff was fast and friendly. But mainly turned off when you feel you might catch something from the washroom!
Won't return.

“Always Great after a round of Golf!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

We often stop in for a pint and a bite to eat after playing at the Wigwam and are never disappointed! Service is always above and beyond any expectations we could ever have. We come down to AZ 3-4 times a year and even after a few months the staff still knows us by name! Food is FANTASTIC!! Worth the trip!
