“Fun place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

We enjoyed our trip there on Christmas Day. Not only they were open, they had shows. The wood log barriers are not very friendly to toddlers though. My little guy scratched his face on one of them.

“Best "zoo" I've ever visited”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

The wildpark and aquarium are attached and there is an adjoining restaurant that is delicious. The animals are each in their own protected areas but you get the feeling that they are not trapped (except for the lions and tigers of course). With this feeling of freedom the animals are much more active than at any of the other "zoo's" I've been to, including the San Diego Wildpark.

We got to feed a lot of the animals including a giraffe. There is a great playground, a train, a boat ride and a skyride that were all great fun.

The staff is also very kind. It's enjoyable for the whole family and it's a place I would be proud to support on an ongoing basis.

“110 degrees outside but my Granddaughter loved it anyway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

It's a great place for the whole family, but mostly kids. My 8 year old granddaughter was visiting from Washington State in August and the outside temp was 110 plus. We went early but it got hot before noon. She especially loved feeding the Rays, and then the gift shop to spend all my money! We were there for at least 3 hours, then went home and jumped in our pool!!!

“Better options”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

If you can only visit one zoo in phoenix, go to the Phoenix Zoo instead. This is a private zoo and many of the exhibits are old, small, and in ill repair. They seem to allow visitors to get close to many of the animals with little regard for the animals welfare. An example is their giraffes. At the phoenix zoo an employee monitors the feedings, ensuring the animals safety. At wildlife world zoo you use quarters to buy food out of a dispenser and toss it to the animals- no employee is present. I saw everything from candy bar wrappers to soda lids in their enclosure where the food is thrown. The animals in the petting zoo at wildlife world zoo are very aggressive- the llama jumped on me and the deer will push small children over if they have food in their hands. It seems that the only food they get is from visitors. At the Phoenix zoo they feed the goats, but your children can use a brush to pet them- they show no signs of aggression. Many of the indoor buildings, such as the small mammals exhibit, wreaked of urine; it was almost unbearable. Its true that you get closer to some of the animals here, but at what cost? The animals have very little space.

“A bit expensive for what it is.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

The zoo was okay but nothing spectacular. It was quite expensive for what they have. They do seem to be doing a lot of expansion of new exhibits so it may be better when they are done. They have an aquarium as well as the zoo which is included in the price. It too was rather hum-drum. We spent a total of 2 1/2 hours which was plenty to see everything. They also have rides which are all an extra cost, train and skyride $4 each, boat $2, carousel $2.50 and a log plume ride for $6. The cafes and snack bars only take cash as do the rides. They do not offer cups of water at the cafes, you have to buy bottled water. I only saw two drinking fountains. We were there on a beautiful weather January day but I would not want to be there in the summer.
If you want to go, go on a cool day, take plenty of cash and bring your own water bottle.
