“Great place to spend with the grandchildren.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

We live quite close to the zoo and have visited several times, both alone and with relatives that come to town. It's a wonderful chance to see a large variety of animals, birds and marine life. I recommend it to anyone who likes to visit a zoo or aquarium. The on-site restaurant, Dillons BBQ, is excellent.

“I constantly pick this over the PHX zoo.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

World Wildlife Zoo and Aquarium is a fun trip. I go multiple times a year for the past few years (twice this week!) and love it every time. Even when nothing has changed from before. It's quiet in the off season (which is usually when I am there) and they have lots to see and do.
Like any outdoor outing appropriate shoes are recommended. You are going to a place with animals and it's outdoors and requires lots of walking closed toed sneakers are your best bet. Anyone who thinks sandals are appropriate for this outing wills suffer the consequences of that choice.
This zoo is more about the animals then the customers from what I have seen, the exhibits are well maintained and spacious the animals really seem to be getting amazing care. The trails are mostly dirt which I have absolutely no problem with and actually enjoy it makes you feel more like you are in the animals environment then your own. They have a train ride, log flume and sky ride so it is more then just a zoo. There is a great petting zoo that even though I am 23 I visit at for way too long.
Now my favorite part of this is the Aquarium the only other "Aquarium" in the area that I know of is the one in the mall and is nothing compared to this. They have a wide variety of displays that are very well maintained. (I am a fish enthusiast and had many first tanks running before so I have a high expectation of tank maintenance.) They have touch tanks and the shark/stingray touch tank is a wonderful experience for anyone of any age. There is always a woman/man repeating instructions on how to pet them and to remove jewelry etc and rarely have i ever seen them "yell" at anyone unless they were doing something to distress the animals. And under those circumstances I would too, the animals come before the customer because without them there would be no customers coming in. The place smells no different then any other aquarium I have been in to be honest.
The small mammal indoor exhibits do tend to smell but honestly that is expected. If you are sensitive to smells I don't suggest it. <This is the closest thing to a complaint about this place I have.
Some people complain about the price but you are getting a Zoo and an aquarium in one trip along with a few rides and a petting zoo which not all zoos have. Not to mention no tax dollars go to this place at all and ticket sales are a huge portion of their funds to keep this place running.
This really is an amazing zoo and I suggest it to everyone.

“Great outdoor family attraction - Much better than your typical zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

If you are looking for a great family outing where you can enjoy nature and the animals I recommend the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium. This is not your typical zoo.

The parking lot will be full but no worries... there is lots of land and the property is not crowded. No line for the few rides available throughout the property. Appropriate for all ages. Be sure to take the train and sky rides.

The new aquarium is fantastic. Many hands on exhibits including petting and feeding stingrays. Many opportunities to get up close and personal with the animals throughout the zoo.Call ahead for feeding and show schedules.

The attraction is somewhat pricey - $31 for adults but you can stay all day. Purchase eggs at Costco in the Phoenix area for a two for one admission coupon on the egg carton.

We had dinner at Dillons - located next door but accessible from the zoo property. Fabulous shark tank in the center of the dining room. Good food with a side selection menu.

Now is a good time to go. Plenty of shade. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Road construction in the area could be limiting attendance.

“Place is very natural”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

I liked this zoo it was as natural as you can get in a enclosed zoo. The animals were in great condition. There is a wide variety of animals too. They have informative get to know your animal shows that allow you to see selected animals in a more personal fashion. Ever since this zoo was opened they have improved and improved the property and increased the type and variety of animals there. They have a great Aquarium now too. I've been there many times over the years and it just keeps getting better. And its privately owned and operated.

“Love Animals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

This was really close as to where we were staying (Wigwam Resort). You really see the animals up close. The signage showing direction I found really good. We took a ride on the train which you have to pay cash. Also if you wanted to feed the animals, there is feed machines at the exhibits but you need to bring cash (change). I also liked the Aquarium section. If you have children with you, there are rides but you have to pay cash.

I had sandals on but quickly changed to running shoes as you walk & walk all over.
