“The Warmth of the Wigwam”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2012

Bill Denver Colorado

This is the second time I have stayed at the Wigway. The people at this resort can not do enough for you. From the time you drive up to the time you leave they let you know how much they value the choice you made in staying at their hotel. Some of the rooms need updating but they are very clean and the grounds are as beautiful as can be. Palm trees and flowers all over. I think they have 3 Robert Trent Jones Golf Courses. You will love the pools!

Room Tip: Ask for the front desk. Suggest you get a room that is close to the club house so you have a brief...

It's an honor when a guest returns for a second stay and writes such a nice review. We're elated that our staff made such a positive impression upon you and your gracious acknowledgement of their efforts will be shared with them. Thank you for mentioning our three 18-hole championship golf courses which offers both diversity and challenge to golfers at any level. We hope you'll be back for another visit soon at The Wigwam!

The Wigwam has so many things going for it that you can overlook the faults. First the staff is probably the best I have encountered in quite a few years. The bell/valet guys, the bartender, the wait staff in Litchfields and even the maintenance man who tried to fix our fireplace. Bridgette at the front reception stood out as an amazing asset and just a friendly and positive employee, I looked at several rooms but in the end kept the one I had. She must go through quite a bit considering the condition of the rooms.. Our adobe suite was clean but the couch and chair were so worn that it could have come straight from a college dorm. The firplace didn't work eventhough the maintenance man tried for 15 minutes to fix it, he was polite and explained that they are old and worn. The rooms need a small fridge to be added when they are renovated.
Overall the resort is very nice and peaceful but overpriced for its current room condition. Probably will come back when they renovate the rooms

Room Tip: adobe rooms or fairway rooms are the oldest but quietest. the other rooms are better for families th...

At The Wigwam we believe in providing the highest quality service in an effort to ensure our guest's stay is the best experience possible. Your generous praise for our staff is sincerely appreciated and will be passed along to them. We would like to apologize that our hotel maintenance was not able to get your room's fireplace running; however, we do thank you for your understanding. Just for future reference, refrigerators are available upon request for a minimal fee and a complete listing of available services and amenities can be found on our website. We hope you will return for another visit as it would be our pleasure to welcome you back to The Wigwam.

We have stayed at this property numerous times throughout the years - and returned this year right after Christmas before New Year's. The property renovations are gorgeous and thoughtful -- cozy firepit areas, lush rose walkways, main pool updated with slide, bridge and cool fountains, all while keeping in spirit with the rustic, original feeling of the hotel. The main lobby including the restaurants and bars in this area are also beautiful with cozy and private spots for people to gather and enjoy drinks and conversation: e.g. the library area near the Wigwam bar or just outside the bar area on the patio. We watched guests (families, couples, etc.) enjoying the resort in so many different ways since they've set up the outside areas for maximum enjoyment: chairs setup on the grass surrounding a fire pit, etc. There are also fun games such as a bean bag toss that keep things playful.

The rooms are in need of renovation and the hotel is tackling that next. However, the Oasis Rooms are generous in size with large bathrooms so we are looking forward to the improvements as they really have good bones. The patios are large and perfect for wine and cheese with guests or morning breakfast. Until the renovations are done, you can expect to see some wear and tear - poor caulking in the bathroom showers, less than perfect patch jobs, less than perfect carpet, etc. Spend your time enjoying the outdoor pools and other activities and you will be just fine! The Oasis pool is a very relaxing area and the main pool is lovely at night with the water displays. Firepits are off in the distance and lend a very cool vibe.

We enjoyed the Wigwam Bar and Litchfield's Restaurant and Bar. Great menus with locally sourced food. The menus have a wide range of price offerings which works very well for hotel guests -- sometimes you want to splurge and other times you just want a terrific Kobe burger and fries. You have many choices in terms of restaurants at the resort which is an improvement.

This hotel is a piece of Arizona history and it is something to appreciate and enjoy. It's not trying to be The Phoenician or The Kierland. This is an experience completely different and one well worth enjoying. You leave feeling rested, refreshed, and inspired by the beautiful design.

Room Tip: The "newer" rooms are in the Oasis area. They are larger rooms with oversized bathrooms...

We had a great stay at the Wigwam Resort. Food was outstanding as was the service at the resort. Great location and we enjoyed being at such a historic hotel. The kids loved the pool and we even were able to enjoy a great family golf lesson from Matt at the Plane Truth.

Room Tip: The Casitas are great family rooms, love the firelplaces in the room and around the resort

My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at this resort this past Saturday. We stayed there the night we were married years ago and it's just as amazing as it was then, but even better. My parents got us a room there for our birthday's and wanted us to have a small retreat away from our crazy life of 4 kids and organized chaos. I can't tell you how much it was needed. The weekend was blissful. We loved our room, experience and we already can't wait to come back. Thank you for the R&R and rejuvenation, it was so needed!

As an engineer who works very long hours and under stressful conditions I need to make sure that my relaxing times are maximized. The people at the Wigwam really make that happen. The staff is outstanding and the golf is untouched by any other resort. The variety of courses that they offer makes it fun and relaxing to step up to the tee knowing that you are not being pressured and that it is not being ran like an assembly line like I have experienced at other courses in Phoenix. I would rather spend my relaxing time at the Wigwam than any other resort and I can say that with a lot of experience. Thanks Wigwam!!!!

Room Tip: The rooms by the two pools offer a nice view to wake up to and in the evening they are stunning with...
