“A very relaxing visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Yvonne and Dan were great hosts who came up with many useful tips on what to see. Greatly enjoyed the whole ambience of the property and of the area that has much to offer, including excellent restaurants.

We stayed at de Leeuwenhof the first time and were in the area of Paarl because of business. We've got a very warm welcome and we felt homelike from the beginning on. The rooms are modern, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic. Daan and Yvonne, you and your team are doing a very good job. We are looking forward to stay at your place the next time.

Thank you very much for your review.

Running a guesthouse/hotel in which we both have business guests and holiday seekers is quite a challenge as each have a different needs and expectations.. One relaxes and wants to sleep out and the other leaves at 07.00 or is in a hurry. We do our very best to treat all guests like we would like to be treated ourselves in the various conditions and to accommodate all.

The review is the review off our efforts. Again thank you.

This is a beautiful estate, managed by smart people. They've done a lot to make it modern and comfortable but still offer an ode to the history. Bed was comfortable, breakfast made to order and delicious. The new tortoise was a bonus :) Don is really interesting and I enjoyed talking to him. Had one minor issue during the stay, and he made it right. Would definitely stay there again if I find myself in Paarl.

Room Tip: I liked staying in the barn.

We had an all too brief one night stay in a fabulous two storey family apartment - the upstairs bedroom is enormous (of course, our son decided he wanted this one!) and the whole place is spacious, nicely decorated and well equipped.

The guesthouse is surrounded by the farm's vines (we sampled a very nice bottle of their white wine) and guava trees. Being winter, we did not make use of the pool and patio but these would be great in the summer. We enjoyed chatting to our interesting hosts, Daan and Yvonne. Superb breakfast was cooked to order. Easy access along the motorway to Paarl for restaurants (we ate at the excellent Noop which Yvonne booked for us).

Worth of their #1 status, a very good stopping off point in a peaceful and safe location.

Room Tip: The family apartment provides great space

What a nice review and we thank you for that.

This review indicates that the wintertime in the Wine Lands still has a lot to offer as long as guests have the right set of expectations regarding the possibilities and offerings. Winters can be cold, with snow on the mountain, but beautiful, with the waterfalls running and rivers pumping and still a lot of sunshine. Excellent food and great wine, a warm bed in a nice apartment and friendly service is what we try to offer in wintertime.

Again, we like to thank the nice family for their review as it is greatly appreciated.

Fantastic place to be. Had a nice big room in the barn. Quiet surroundings. Paarl is not the place to be, but the Leeuwenhof guesthouse really is. Daan, Yvonne and Steven has a natural way of approaching their guests and knowing their needs.
They arranged a wine tasting at 2 exclusive wineries, did a tasting themselves together with a braai and tour around their estate. Due to the good atmosphere they create, all guests had nice contact with each other. They do not need our review as all other reviews speak for themselves. Really excellent. A pity we stayed only 3 days.

My wife and I stayed for a weekend in this charming B&B amidst the guave trees, less than an hour away from Cape Town. Perfectly peaceful and quiet, we were warmly welcomed by owner Daan who was very helpful in getting us to the surrounding wine farms of our liking and getting us a table at a nearby top restaurant. The morning greeting of 4 of their 5 five super friendly dogs perfectly fit the expectations of this rural break from Cape Town. A delicious breakfast by the swimming pool prepared by the friendly Maria was a nice extra cherry on the cake. I have no hesitation warmly recommending this reasonably priced B&B and will be happy to return to what proved a very comfortably outfitted and tasteful hide-out. Sweet memories indeed.

This place is perfect. The welcome is warm and the price is reasonable. We were referred here by our other favourite place in Swellendam based on the good things they have heard about Leeuwenhof and we are so glad we stayed. Paarl does get hot though...
