We were in Paarl for two nights and people at our B&B recommended Noop. We phoned for a reservation and discovered that the next night, a Friday, would feature a special wine pairing menu. This is usually done the last Friday of the month but had been put off for a week - lucky us! The five course menu was superb including apricot and feta stuffed lamb roulade, roast duck with braised red cabbage, duck and baby spinach risotto and smoked prune jus and a cointreau flambeed fruit crepe with hazelnut ice-cream and fudge sprinkle. The courses were accompanied by Boland wines which were all very good. The representative of the winery discussed each of the wines and gave most of her talk in English for us. We were the only two non-Afrikans speakers in the room. The wait staff, especially the wine steward, were excellent. The exchange rate makes travel in southern Africa very reasonable (once you get there!) and this fabulous dinner only cost about $60 Canadian for the two of us. And, to top it off, one of the men at the next table was the father of the restaurant owner and insisted we take, not one, but two bottles of wine with us!

Dear Sandra K,

Thank you very much for the lovely review and for taking the time to write it!
You are absolutely right, we do host such Food & Wine pairing evenings once a month. We always have a local wine estate / winemaker join us. Paarl has some of the best wineries in the world and it offers us a great platform to introduce our food to the world.
I am delighted that you had such a good time at our Restaurant and that your thoroughly enjoyed our food and the company (my father).
Please feel free to stay in contact and if ever in the area again, stop by and join us for a glass of wine.
