We took this Ostrich show farm out of the three as it was on our way in from Cape Town via R 62 on self drive . A hot cup of coffee revived us from the long drive . Then came the very interesting and well presented tour . You are encouraged to do everything hands on and ask as many questions as you want . Must do this one on your way in from Route 62 as it is a wee bit in the outback and it would take some effort to come back from town . The surrounds are typical hot dry Karoo where Osrtiches thrive . Genuine osrtich leather has small stalked spherules that are freely mobile under your touch . Deformed and infertile eggs are broken up and eaten by the mother to recycle precious nutrients . Every part is used commercially - leather , feathers , meat and bonemeal .
