“Most relaxing getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

My girlfriend and I spent 4 amazing nights in one of the beautiful self catering cottages. The indoor fire place was perfect for the cold nights. The cottage was fresh and clean on arrival. Equipped with all essentials. The peace, quiet and beautiful surroundings were exactly what we needed. Petro was a great host and i cannot recommend this place enough!

This past May was the fourth time that we spent a few nights at the cottages at the Red Stone Hills farm with a group of 15 people. We spread over several cottages that were all equally well equipped to look after anything one needs. The cottages are clean and well maintained. The owners are going out of their way to make sure everyone settled in well. We took all breakfasts and evening meals together in the dining room overlooking the gardens and pool. The meals were very generous and tasty, and calling in meal choices ahead of time assured our group of vegetarian choices. We had very early starts in the morning that allowed us to watch sunrise during breakfast- what a spectacle to see the landscape come alive. The group enjoyed the hiking in the spectacular landscape, the farm animals getting ready for the night, and the quiet... We will be back next year with a new group!

Room Tip: Plan on enjoying your porch or terrace and listen to nature- a true destresser!

Need to relax and unwind? Go to Red Stone Hills. The owners are the most friendly people you have ever met. The cottages are really nice and well equipped. We stayed in Ostrich Palace for 18 nights. Petro had made us an ostrich braai for the first night, it is really sensational.
The cottages are scattered around the gravelroad to Kruisrivier, but you still have your privacy.
If there is anything Petro and Hermanus can do for you, don't hesitate to ask them. They will do anything to help you. Even give you good advice on what to see and what to do.
We will recommend Red Stone Hills to eveyone we meet. It is, for us, the best place to have a nice holiday.

Room Tip: All the cottages are nice and rustique. Let Petro advise you

Read about Red Stone Hills in Die Burger and immediately decided to do a booking. We stayed in Aloe Gardens Cottage with a view of the farm with the backdrop of the Red Stone Hills. Our accommodation was neat and provided us with everything we needed.
Absolute peace and quiet with cows bellowing, hikes up to the mountains and surroundings.
Our host was perfect with information about the area. All in all, we will definately be going back.

We arrived at Red Stone Hills late in to the evening and were not able to appreciate the beautiful scenery until the morning - the views are simply fantastic. We had originally booked in to Aloe Garden but Petro and Hermanus had kindly moved us in to Ostrich Palace as it was slightly larger and had a patio and Braai we could use. After a fantastic night's sleep we awoke to clear blue sky and fantastic views of the mountains. After breakfast, we popped over to see Petro and Hermanus and they advised us possible routes we could take and mountain passes we could drive whilst exploring the Oudtshoorn area. We unfortuantely only had two nights and one day in the area, so had to squeeze a lot in to one day, but would definately want to return to enjoy the some of the walking route.

We did receive tis location from Jeanne, owner and host of Aasvoelkrans in Montagu, driving again for miles and miles and suddenly see the shilled turn left for "Red Stone Hills" into the "bush". After a slow but very doable ride we looked over Petro Potgieter's farm and cottages. Again as in the previous B&B planned a night but stayed 4. Good, big, quiet, privacy and nature oriented cottages. Breakfast is served in the central lodge; BBQ is served at your cottage. Forget shopping and or any other normal daily stuff. Just enjoy Petro's food, hiking around and a nice tour over the Prince Albert Pass. Try to relax and stay!

A very good place to just catch up with yourself, your family or what ever you need. The cottages is a little distance from each other so you have privacy and can do your own thing. Host are very welcoming and have a very good knowledge of everything.
