Stopped here b/c we weren't going to have time to make it to the Elephant Sanctuary and our innkeeper (Gumtree Guesthouse - excellent) suggested Buffelsdrift as they have elephants to play with.
So, we went. Had some food (ostrich steaks) which weren't cheap - but were SOOOOOO good. So juicy and tasty (good sweet barbeque sauce) - really great. We sat on a deck overlooking a lake with hippos, various birds (including little yellow birds that make their hanging nests from the bottom - right next to us) and a bunch of giant carp swimming around. Really cool.
The Lodge itself was really cool.
The elephant experience was really great. 3 elephants, 3 handlers. Felt completely safe at all times. They told us about the elephants and we fed them, petted them (including their tongues), sat on them, played soccer with them (they throw and kick - yes kick - soccer balls), and took a lot of great pictures. It was really fun and quite incredible to be so interactive with such calm elephants.
