“Most beautiful Wedding Venue in the world...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2009

My husband and myself had our wedding there last January. It's a wonderful place and we would absolutly reccomend it to anyone.
The ceremony was on a small hidden deck, quiet & one of the best fews you can get. The reception was held in the Pool Room, enough space for our small group of guests we had with. With a little bit of love & care we made the room just look perfect for our big day.
The room was stunning, yes like someone else mentioned before, a bit of a damp smell in the room but obviously cause of the all around wood in the room and to be so close to the ocean.
The food was beautifuly prepared, the flavours unbelievable, the food choices fantastic! The only negative remark we had was the service. Unfortunatly not "enough" organised (or should a say not good enough service personal?) for a 4****. The orders of a group of under 30 people had to be taken a few times. The food came out way to late, interval time was just too long until each of our guest had anything from a starter to a dessert.... Anyway overall our perfect dream location for the biggest day of our lives.
Beautiful, breathtaking, magical & stunning views!!

When arriving at Monkey Valley, we were very excited, it was a beautiful place with great views. However, when we entered our room, there was a very musky smell about it, like damp wood.

After we got over the smell, we were happy with the views and it was late and we decided to check out the restaurant, Thorfynns. I must say, we were dissapointed with the meal here, the service was not great and my Ravioli came served looking like soup. It was way too creamy and rich.

We did however venture back for breakfast the next morning and were unimpressed with the hot breakfast buffet. The eggs were cold and there was rarely tea out, only coffee.

Our phone rang twice at 4am in the morning from reception telling us there was a taxi waiting for us ???? Which we hadn't ordered. So that was very frustrating.

Room service turned up twice with the wrong order and occasionaly brought things to our room that we hadn't ordered at all! It was all very confusing!

If you do go, the Red Herring is the place to eat! Great meals and great prices. Ambience in the restaurant is amazing and its right at the bottom of the driveway of Monkey Valley, easy walking distance.

Also - the beach horseriding is a must!

  • Liked — Views and Noordhoek itself is a gorgeous little town
  • Disliked — The smell of the rooms, the restaurant.
