“Stylish elegance with great service and a wonderful view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013 via mobile

Picked this for a few nights in January because of its being number one on Tripadvisor and indeed it deserves to be. Furnished with flair, our suite had a huge bathroom and was very comfortable. Ross and Bianca are excellent hosts and their staff are great too. We tried Bianca's light bites one evening. Very good and amazingly, despite having cooked the food, Bianca still looked like a catwalk model!

The Villa Afrikana offers all the luxuries of 5 star accomodation with a boutique hotel's attention to detail.
We found the Villa breathtakingly beautiful - from it's amazing views to it's wonderfully appointed rooms. How fantastic it was to be greeted at the end of a long journey by Ross and Bianca, offering a glass of chilled wine and chocolate-dipped strawberries!
Bianca was a superb host, who obviously has a great pride in her residence, and the high standards of both herself and Ross are reflected in the standard of the rooms.
Our room was stunning and included many extras which one would expect to find in a 5 star hotel - bathrobes, slippers and toiletries. however, not even Cape Grace gave us a rose on the pillow and rose petals on the bed!
Breakfast was delightful, again showing great attention to detail, and we were able to take it on our terrace, which was an added bonus.
Our thanks, too, go to Bianca and Ross's efficient and caring staff. They reflect the high standard of the accomodation.
Our one regret is that we were only staying for one night. Should we return to South Africa, we will definitely be booking a longer stay at the Villa Afrikana!

We stayed at Villa Afrikana as part of our honeymoon and we were really happy with our choice of accommodation. The owners Bianca and Ross were very hospitable and friendly and made our stay a real pleasure (especially with all the little touches such as chocolate covered strawberries, chocolates and wine on our arrival.)
Our room overlooked a magnificent view of Knysna and we loved the clean modern african decor.
The staff were super helpful, the breakfasts great and all of the recommendations about the local area were spot on.

Would highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: The Materolli room had a great view but I think there are others with the same view and a balcony

Set on the hillside overlooking the Knysna bay and The Heads lies this fantastic guest house. Run by two lovely people Ross and Bianca who are passionate about great service and making sure that their guests are completely at ease and in comfort. There was nothing to comment upon that wasn't top quality! Service, food, room quality, location and breakfast!! :)

If you asked us if you should stay for a while at Villa Afrikana the answer would always be of course you should!

This is definitely one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The service is simply fantastic, room was gorgeous . Hosts were such nice , genuine people. We had breakfast on the terrace outside our rooms every morning, this can also be served inside your room. Every day when we arrived back from exploring we were greeted by the staff offering refreshments and asking if we wanted to make a dinner reservation or indeed confirming a reservationnwe had requested earlier. Bianca and Ross, always recommended great places for lunch or dinner. The towels in the room were refreshed everytime we used them. We had brought a bottle of champagne and red wine with us from Stellenbosch, the staff noticed these and left champagne flutes and red wine glasses in the room. There were beach towels and a beach basket in the room to use for a day out ,along with candles for a romantic night in. The room was so nice we decided to stay in and have pizza, the table on our terrace was set with a table cloth etc. I would definitely recommend you book this villa, simply amazing.

we had unforgettable 4 nights in this villa africana that we renamed to villa italiana :) as there were high class suites (we stayed in 2 different suites with balcony and without one, but both rooms were great), very warm and welcome with lovely room and most comfortable beds we had ever seen in SA, absolutely perfect breakfast for any taste, great compliment wine on arrival. We heartly thank Bianca and Ross for everythink they did for us. In addition to give us the lovely accomodation they booked 4 restaurants for us and advised what to see around so actually we were so busy there that we havent noticed how quickly the days passed. We definitely will recommend this place to our relatives and friends and going to come back there during our next tripp to SA.

Room Tip: probably rooms with balcony are more desirable, but grab the room without one as we did it as all ro...

We stayed in the Spitzkop Suite, with the perfect balcony view of the estuary (their signature photo). It is a climb up to the third level, but worth it. Ross and Bianca are wonderful hosts. The staff are very attentive. We enjoyed our breakfasts very much (great omelettes Bianca..!). They prepared a picnic lunch for our departure that was great. The hotel facilities are excellent and every bit as lovely as the photos on the web site. Everything was clean and tidy. Lovely decor with a personal touch. Well deserved #1 rating in Knysna. Only issue was a shaky internet connection that they are trying to fix.

Room Tip: Spitzkop Suite is excellent.
