We enjoyed a wonderful stay of 6 days at Brenton Hill Guest House in February! Brenton Hill is excellent value for money. We stayed at both the Oystercatcher (for 2p) and the Weavers Nest (houses up to 6p). We really loved the spacious Oystercatcher: the room is huge, it has a big en suite with a bath and a separate shower, and the kitchen is really well equipped. The view from this room, overlooking the Knysna Lagoon, is truly magnificent! You also have your own private piece of garden, with a terrace (which is smaller compared to the other two rooms, but nonetheless spacious), a table and chairs (for eating outside), a Weber braai and two deck chairs with comfortable cushions.
The Weavers Nest is like a bungalow in itself. It has a kitchen/dining/living room, and three spacious bedrooms with ensuites, each containing a shower. It has a very big terrace and garden and four deck chairs, a bench with a view, and a large table for outside dining. The Weavers Nest also has a very nice view, and is very practical for families or a group of friends/couples enjoying a holiday together.
Both rooms have ample storage space for your clothes, etc and are very clean. There is also a large common area, which includes the well stocked honesty bar, a TV and an open fire, and opens up to the large covered common terrace.
We loved the hosts, Andy and Catriona! They are really friendly and hospitable, and we really felt sad leaving again! If there was anything we needed, they went out of their way to take care of it, and they were always available for advice on trips etc. Even when we checked into another b&b in Knysna (as Brenton Hill was unfortunately fully booked those days), we were still welcome to enjoy a very nice braai with them!
Brenton Hill Guest House is very child friendly, but if you are a couple with no particular love for children, this does not need to disturb you. There is a play area for children on the other side of the property.
Brenton Hill Guest House is located just a few minutes' drive from Knysna. We felt that Knysna was the nicest town of the Garden Route, but it is also a very convenient place to stay when visiting the other Garden Route towns. Knysna actually has a nice climate all year round, so also worth visiting outside of the peak months of December and January.
So all in all, we would really recommend staying here when visiting the Garden Route. We would certainly stay here again!
