Upon arrival, nothing could spoil our day. We heard from a friend about this wonderfull place that we had to go to. We decided to arrive early as per our agreement. When we arrived at the hotel, we were so excited and couldn't wait to enjoy a wonderful breakfast we have heard so much about.
As we walked into the hotel, there wasn't a person in sight, after standing around for about ten minutes a girl appeared from what seems to be a staff entrance, she just glanced at us as if we were not standing there. A moment later she appeared again and clearly from the smell of things went for a cigarette, she was very friendly though and made us feel more relaxed. A few moments later we were greeted by her manager, not a very friendly young girl and it immediately put a negative atmosphere in the air. She then informed us that our room wasn't ready yet and that we could go have breakfast and they will call us when the room is ready.
We were shown around the hotel in such a hurry, we almost couldn't find our way to the restaurant. Arriving at the restaurant, the staff were friendly and helpfull, professional but very friendly, they asked us where we were from and are we enjoying our stay in South Africa, that made us feel like VIP's, how did they know where we were from, we had just arrived.
After we enjoyed the best breakfast ever, we were taken to our room, not exactly what we had hoped for, but it had to do. The bathroom was stunning, but if you lie in the bath, you can see the plumbing and cob webs under the sink, our TV's volume was broken and the airconditioner didn't work properly, we waited almost an hour for somebody to come and attend to this.
The Cafe, is a wonderful little place, but so cold and empty, staff standing around, doing their own thing, it could be so much more with just a little TLC, the Leopard Lounge (Bar) has the best view for sundowners and live entertainment.
We had a wonderful dinner in the main restaurant (Azure) and couldn't ask for more, the manageress calles us by our surname and made us feel very important, I'm sure they did it with all their guests but this girls knew everyones names without looking on a list, she just whirled you off to your table, assist with the chair and gently flicked a napkin on your lap, if that isn't service, I don't know what is.
We had an OK stay at the Twelve Apostles, if was ever to go back, it would be to go to the restaurant, the reception could work on service and friendliness. Our first impression.
We didn't have the best start, but we had a great end to our stay, thank you to all the restaurant staff that made all of our meals so memorable.
