Now this is a hotel!

We stayed here for a week as part of our honeymoon and it is superb! Lets not kid ourselves for the area this is a pricey hotel but you get what you pay for – first class service, superb suites and fabulous facilities.

The first encounter with the hotel set the scene for our whole stay. The reception staff and concierge were first class – some of the well known London hotels could take a few lessons – and before we knew it we were in our room!

We had a lovely suite overlooking Kynsna lagoon (we recommend you request this outlook) which was larger than some 2-bed flats we’ve seen in London! The suites do look like the pictures on the website – bar area, lounge, enormous bed and a bathroom you could fit a rugby team in!

The spa is fantastic - great variety of treatments with very knowledgeable staff. As a guest we were able to use the gym, indoor pool, lounge and smoothie bar at our convenience. The sports facilities are incredible and the array of sports is surprising!

As it was our honeymoon the hotel had organise us a bottle of champagne and Knysna oysters for us to enjoy watching the sun go down over the lagoon! We were also each given a spa treatment and given gifts of chocolate, wine and spa products.

The breakfasts are incredible! Everything from fresh fruit to maple syrup covered pancakes to goats cheese omelettes as well as a buffet style area! Zachery’s serves fabulous dinners and everything we ate there we would recommend! We also spent a number of evenings at the Waterfront in Knysna where we found lovely bars and restaurants thanks to the recommendations of the concierge.

We lazed away days at Noetzie Beach. It is an oasis of tranquillity compared to the hustle and bustle of the beaches at Buffalo Bay and Plettenberg Bay! The hotel has taken over the old castle on the beach where we were able to borrow beach towels and have a lovely on a veranda overlooking the beach.

For those sightseeing we had a lovely evening on a sunset cruise through Knysna Heads, and enjoyed the Cango Caves and ostrich farms near Outshoorn and Plettenberg Bay is also worth a visit!

This hotel really has the Wow factor. The rooms/suites are plain gorgeous. The hotel is set in a stunning natural location with access to a stunning beach with wild surf (which you definitely can't swim in!). We found the restaurant (Zacharys) to be a disappointment - the food was overly fancy and very overpriced. The restaurant service was a bit formal and stuffy too. Stlll don't let that put you off as there are loads of good restaurants in Knysna. The resort has a golf course and loads of additional activities on offer but we don't play golf and didn't do any of the activities.

Never Never never never have we stayed in such a luxurious resort in the most fabulous location. Pezula is heaven, great hotel , deserted beach , wonderful sports facilities, incredible food and Knysna (nearby town) is delightful backwater.

We booked with Design Holidays and saved ourselves massively on room cost.

We were only going to stay for 2 nights and stayed 14 it's that good, although we cannot pretend it's cheap !

Coming back is not a question it is the answer.......

We had high hopes for this part of our holiday. It was the most expensive part, we wanted luxury and pampering and had splashed out a lot of money on this place.

Having booked 2 interconnecting rooms for ourselves and 2 kids, we arrived to find that kids were only allowed to dine in the evenings between 6 and 7 (can't have other diners witnessing the little savages). Fair enough, but the room service was painfully slow and failed to get simple instructions right. How difficult can plain pasta with grated cheese be? Pasta arrived without the cheese. By the time we had called twice for the cheese the pasta was cold, kids wouldn't eat it.

A dress code for the evening was stipulated in the information, jackets required for the dining room. My husband duly rushed off and bought a jacket. That night, hardly another jacket in sight. OK I guess he should have checked first. Grrrr. THat was after the babysitter showed up half an hour late and the pre-dinner cocktails took 25 minutes to serve.

However, the food and wine were top notch, absolutely excellent.

The hotel prides itself on its spa and I was eager to spend some time being pampered. We were there for 5 nights and I could not get a single appointment the whole time. I have since been told I should have booked treatments in advance. I was very disappointed and fed up with this - when you're travelling with kids, a spa session is the only quiet time you get.

Final straw was being told that the kids could not use the indoor pool on a rainy day, because it's for over 12's only. Then my husband went to use the gym and saw another family in there with their very small kids.

Seems like Pezula like making rules but not enforcing them. Be consistent guys, and visit one of the Four Seasons hotels in Egypt for some tips on service - it's no coincidence that they appear in the Africa top 10.

Loved the rooms, the food, wine and general layout. Especially the bathrooms with large baths and underfloor heating.
