We spent four nights here after travelling for over three weeks in South Africa and it was very pleasant to spread out in these very spacious suites which are indeed considerably bigger than my first apartment. The pool area and the gardens are delightful and while Knysna and Plettenburg are easily reachable, there is no feeling of being right in town. The staff was informative and helpful and everything was kept very clean and manicured. The grounds staff said they were struggling to clean up after some torrential rains but it looked very good to us. Breakfast which was included in our stay was acceptable although nothing special. The food at night was mediocre at best and not worth the price especially considering the great restaurants in nearby Knysna -- try Dry Dock, Lush and Sirocco all great.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Lake Pleasant and can't wait to go back again.

The setting is stunning, the service and quality of the hotel ranks amongst the best we have experienced and my personal favorite the abundance of bass just waiting to be caught just yards from our bedroom door.

As a family with two young daughters (3 and 7yrs) we were a bit concerned the kids would get bored and drive us up the wall with nagging, but, ended up complaining to them that they were not spending any time with mom and dad.

If you want space, quality and the perfect location we have no hesitation endorsing this fine hotel.

    • Liked — The size of the rooms - the suites are bigger than most city apartments.
    • Disliked — The extra thick curtains that blocked out the morning sun causing us to oversleep.
    • Tips/Secrets: — Make sure you take a fishing rod and some bass lures with you.

This place was recommended to us by a couple who we'd met in S Africa and we didn't really know much about it. Luckily we were very pleasantly surprised and it's a great place to stay on the Garden Route if you want somewhere away from the crowds.

As the name suggests this place is situated on the edge of a lake on the main route from George to Knysna. The views of the lake are absolutely beautiful and the hotel is situated in pleasantly landscaped grounds. The accommodation is in the form of self catering suites which are huge. The rooms are obviously fairly newly decorated and look fresh and airy. The lounge also features an open plan kitchen which is fairly well equipped. For those who don't want to cook there is a bistro in the hotel but we found the food here to be pretty average. Breakfast is good with a choice of hot and cold options.

A great place to stay for a relaxing & peaceful time.

My husband and I stayed at Lake Pleasant with our 10 years old daughter and had a wonderful time. The setting is very picturesquem and we were able to enjoy the perfect lakeside view from our room - great for bird watching. Room itself was spacious and large, with a bed in the lounge area for my daughter. Everything you would expect of a hotel at thislevel was provided. The room was nicely decorated with some good original artwork on the walls. Housekeeping was immacualte. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Lake Pleasant is a great place to get away from it all and enjoy mature. Knysna is an attractive town, esepcially at the Heads.

“Better Location”

Its a bit mean me writing this review as we didn't actually stay at lake Pleasant... however we nearly did and i'm glad we didn't!!

Location. The lake pleasant hotel is situated yes on a lake but it is also very close to the main highway. Also in this area there isn't alot to do.

I'd recommend if your looking at this area to stay at Plettenberg Bay, its a nice wee town, plenty of restaurants, great beach and breathtaking mountain scenery. Knysna is also close, but not as pleasant a spot for visitors
