“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012

We stayed here as a stop while travelling the garden route, and wished we had stayed here longer instead of moving on. Owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The room was spacious. Location is very central in Knysna and easy to walk to the waterfront. We would happily return and definitely hope to!

Great place to "go back into the jungle" with the rainforest motif decor sprinkled with a bit of fun, e.g. stained glass church windows, or claw-footed bath tub. Each room is a unique combination of jungle hut, church gothic, and children's playhouse. Wonderful. Most of all, very clean.

The couple who own the place are very friendly and helpful. He offered us three or four restaurant selections and then secured us a very late reservation at a local restaurant when we got delayed.

Their breakfast includes both cold food: fruits, cereals, cheeses and hot dishes: scrambled eggs, omelettes, etc.

Bottom line: fun and funky...a wonderful break from the normal chain hotel.

Room Tip: Entire B&B is on a small hillside--people who have a bit of trouble climbing up relatively shall...

This must be the most surprising place to stay on the Garden Route - a home for hobbits in the middle of Knysna. Close the curtains (that overlook the car park next door) and you could believe yourself in the African wilderness. Our hosts are welcoming and hospitable, with good recommendations for eating locally, and breakfasts are delicious. Highly recommend this accommodation.

We stayed here three nights and really enjoyed the experience. Our hosts Helen and Riaan were so friendly and helpful. They couldn't do enough for us. Making welsh cakes on St. David's Day for a fellow Welsh girl was so thoughtful. We loved our cabin set in the 'jungle' garden with a small balcony ideal for sundowners. Overall a wonderful experience and we hope to return for the promised braai.

We stayed here one night in the tree top chalet. We enjoyed the experience but I'm not sure I could've stayed another night due to the noise and lack of privacy in the bathroom which other reviewers have mentioned. Don't let that put you off though as the noise didn't bother my partner!! The hosts were very friendly and breakfast was great. All in all I'm glad we chose to stay here for our one night stay in Kynsna.

We stayed two nights in this excellent place. It is something different, you feel you are in the bush, but actually you are right next to the main road.
Nice owners, clean rooms, walking distance (10 min) to restaurants.

A really unique place, rustic rooms on a small hill, convenient location near shops and restaurants and only 10 min walk from the harbor. We stayed here over Xmas for 2 nights, would have stayed longer but unfortunately it was fully booked. First night we stayed in one of the smaller double rooms which was fine on the second night they moved us to the honeymoon suite which was excellent. Rooms are wooden chalet style all individual with character. The owners are a great couple really friendly and helpful with insightful advice on restaurants and activities and serve a nice breakfast. Other reviews mention noise from the road we never noticed any although perhaps some of the rooms to the front may get some. The communal area is pleasant and we found thus a great base for our visit to Knysna.
