“Great View & Starter Marshal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Since Meyer du Toit and Beryl have left and the new management have taken over it is a bit of a mess. The Starter Marshall a guy by the name of Clint Churchill is probably the only professional person on the team as far as our group is concerned. When I mentioned that the carts were dirty, old smelly water in the ball cleaner and no fresh bottle water the Starter Marshall made sure we had a clean cart brought up and that everything else was in tip top shape. It would be in the interest of Pezula Golf Course to employ a Director of Golf that knows his business and does not strut around growling at his staff.
I give the Starter Marshall 5 Stars for his professionalism but for the rest well that needs some serious management.

“A bit mickey mouse, but worth the views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

We played Pezula at the start of May 2013 as 2 groups of 2 and 3. My playing partner and I are off scratch and 5 and are accustomed to difficult golf courses. The facilities at Pezula are what you would expect of a high quality South African golf course with the club house and surrounds in pristine condition. Bar facilities were of a good standard and staff were polite and attentive.

Now onto the course. The heading says it all I'm afraid. There are some golf holes on this course that will leave you wondering what the designer was thinking and who on earth came up with the hole indexing i.e. the first hole is the hardest according to the index, but it is a 6 iron off the tee, followed by a rescue and wedge to an accommodating green. The only way this should be indexed 1 is if you were led to the tee in a blindfold, handed a driver and hit your tee shot with your blindfold still on.

The 14th is another example of strange course design as it is a short par 4 that really requires a rescue or maybe 3 wood for the shorter hitters to a lay up area, leaving a wedge to the green. Trust me, don't hit driver as if you roll over the end of the fairway, you have a bunker shot that would test Tiger Woods at his best.

That being said, there are some spectacular golf holes, very scenic and challenging in their own right, as long as you can take your eyes off the scenery, which is the main attraction at Pezula. If you happen to be in the Knysna area, I would strongly recommend a visit to Pezula, just don't expect it to be a purist golf course.

“up and down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

Golf course great in all aspects golf staff friendly and knowleagable as always i return to knysna once a year and play all the courses in the area Pezula Remaining to be the highlight of this trip.

But this time i was slightly disappointed really especailly with the restarant department actually,
slow lack luster service wait for food just not what ive been used in the past really the new bar is superb but was told on the day it was not in use as another facility was used made it seem so empty and dead magnificent clubhouse with a spectacular view spoiled by an rather dead atmosphere really.

i had dinner aswell one night with friends all i can say its bloddy expensive for what you get and not all that great tasting either honestly.

some serious work needs to be done actually for it to come close to teh experience that is of the golf course in my opinion andf of others that i know there bring the big guy back atleast half your problems would be sorted then.

till my next garden route golf tour
thnak you

“good but”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

The staff in Pezula were lovely but unfortunately despite the fact that we had booked our tee time in plenty of time we were out in the middle of two large groups and when we came to the 19th tee we found to our dismay that we would have to wait until all of the groups had teed off, we requested our money back and we received an apology and FULL refund...it is a beautiful spot and we thoroughly enjoyed the front 9...also we hired clubs and they were of poor quality and we were dismayed to find that here were better clubs for hire...dont know why we did not get them,...again they had been booked well in advance...so some clarification would have to be sought by anyone booking a round ther as it is certainly not cheap...Anne E Joyce

“Friendly Pezula”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

We played 9 holes at this definitely challengeing course (lost a few balls on the 1st two holes). However, we were welcomed in a very friendly way and looked after our every need. I enjoyed our play and will absolutely be back if we are ever in Knysna again.
