I don't like pasta ! I still like Cafe Mario. No disrepect to Mario but should be called Cafe Gennaro (sp) . He is the convivial , hard working owner known to most locals . That's why we like Mario's . The setting can't be beaten except for the Heads but if you not going to East Head Cafe only don't spoil your visit . You have been warned.
The decor is Italian uremarkable , fortunately not overflowing with oversized empty Italian tomato cans, however the kitchen must be full of ém . The food is definitely tomato driven ,not that it is not good .I love the veal , the pizzas , the breakfasts , the coffee ( a tad expensive - two cups are dearer than an excellent mini breakfast ). No bottomless cup. This is a personal review isn't it ? My only gripe is the vegetables . Generic . I have not not been served butternut in six years of eating there .Or beans.Or creamed spinach.
Service is good despite being always busy.I can't comment on the pasta dishes but the slurps of contentment I hear speak for themselves.
