“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We stayed for the 4th time in this B&B (5 nights). Aestas is a very good B&B, just behind the mainstreet. We stayed in the gardenroom. This is a very nice room, you have your own terras, just one step away from the garden and pool. Guus and Lidy are very nice people who do everything to make you feel at home. They have a lot of perfect tips: the townshiptour with Jonas we can highly recommand, and even so the sunset cruise with the Ocean Experience (Karl).
We will come back!

We stayed at Guus and Lidy already for 6 times or more and eyerytime it is like coming home. The warm and friendly welcome is amazing. The Guesthouse lies in the heart of Knysna(but not at all noisy) with a excellent view over the lagoon, a peaceful garden with pool, and nicely styled, clean rooms with fridge and enough space.Even if you stay for more than one night you will feel comfortable. You will find from double-rooms up to family room(sleeps 4). This time we were 3 adults in the family room, but we also stayed already in different double rooms as a couple and all of them were excellent. The breakfast is really great, you can have both-english and continental-.Guus and Lidy are speaking Dutch, German, English and Afrikaans and are allways trying to help and assist you in any case to make your stay as good as possible.
We will hopefullywill be back soon.

We stayed at Aestas in 2006, 2008 and 2010. All times several days. And.....in october 2012 we are going again for another 5 nights! It's a great guesthouse, with very nice, friendly and helpfull (dutch)owners. You get good value for money. The rooms are clean and spacy (we had the garden room), good breakfast. Guus and Lidy are very helpfull with making a choice for the lot of things you can do in Knysna and the surrounding. Golf (Simola!), restaurants (Phantom Forest!), lunch at Bramon, featherbed, the Waterfront, elephant sanctuary, monkeyland, birds of Eden, Plettenberg Bay (Whale watching), Rhino Base Camp, George and a lot of other things. Or just relax at the swimmingpool in the lovely garden.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are great!

We stayed in a large room, with a large balcony and a small bathroom. The room had a fridge, a TV and WIFI (at a small extra fee). There is a pretty view over the bay and the B&B has a small pool in the garden. The hosts are very friendly and give very good advise on restaurants and what is not to missed in the area.

If you are from The Netherlands you may like this place because of the dutch speaking owners. The service and facilities are average. Most annoying was the owner complaining immediately after his welcome about the high costs he has to make for all the services
provided. Because of this we did not feel very welcome.

Plus:
- lodge has a private parking area
- if the weather is warm you may enjoy the swimming pole
- wireless internet available (although you have to pay a small amount of 20 Rand once)
- small fridge in room to cool your drinks

Minus:
- Room was a little bit noisy
- Owner (Guus) may have a negative attitude

2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2010

We stayed at Aestas for a few days. The location is great and very easy to go into town, the owners are just lovely and always very happy to help. The rooms are very poor unfortunately. There are not much facilities, rooms are very basic and it is very noisy; we could hear the owners and all the other guests talking in their rooms. Would not recommend staying here.

Unfortunately could stay only one night this time, but will definitely be back here! Friendly (multi-lingual) hosts, who were most helpful with making suggestions about things to do and restaurant recommendations. Central location makes it perfect to walk into town, also at night. Comfortable rooms, great dog:)! Big swimming pool in colourful and well-maintained garden. Wish it were mine...
Played some great golf at both Pezula and Simola which they also arranged for us - super!
Can only recommend this place, and its hosts Gus & Lidy! Hope to see you soon again!
