“Dry Dock experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

We were in Knysna for the Oyster Festival the weekend of the 12/13 July and had booked a table at Dry Dock so we could listen to the Navy Band (which was wonderful!) and enjoy a lunch together with friends afterwards. We were a table of 8 and the restaurant was very busy but the service was excellent and our drinks and food orders were taken when we requested. We expected a longish wait for our food but within 15 minutes of our orders being taken three of our table were given their plates of fish and chips. They squeezed their lemon and salted their food and nibbled on a chip and all of a sudden all three plates were whipped away and taken to another table despite us telling them that we had already put on he lemon and salt and started eating and the lady in charge said they would just replace the lemon. Well we were gob smacked to say the least! How can you serve food to someone else when it has already been spiced according to your individual taste? we actually had a bit of a laugh about it but what they did is really not right.
we were served our own meals about 20 minutes later and the food was delicious but I do think the management should take this up with the Lady who was overseeing the meals as she was the one who instructed the waitresses to take the food away despite knowing that we had already started on the meal.
The Dry Dock is a beautiful restaurant with stunning views and good food.

“Enjoyed it at half price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

Winter seems to be the time to visit Knysna as there are lots of specials - we had sushi at half price and it really was great (the sushi and the price). We also had battered fish which was tasty. Drinks are pricey and added quite a bit to the meal but would go back even at full price.

“Worst soup ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014 via mobile

The setting and service was good but that is where it ended. We had the seafood soup that tasted like packet soup with a few pieces of fish in it. I even got a lump of undissolved stock mine.

“Fun in the sun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014 via mobile

We sat the whole afternoon at Dry Dock Restaurant and ate sushi. The sushi was one of the best we have had so far. Told the waitress we were on honeymoon and she did not bug us at all. They were filming the new Afrikaans movie called Knysna around us. Will definitely be back to enjoy an afternoon sitting in the sun watching the awesome view.

“Nice meal in pleasant surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

I ate here with my wife and overall the food was very good. We shared a seafood platter and thai fishcakes. All of it was very good. The only downside was a poor selection of Chardonnays as we prefer oaky / creamy and the closest was the Tokara. Overall good but not exceptional.
