We were in Knysna for the Oyster Festival the weekend of the 12/13 July and had booked a table at Dry Dock so we could listen to the Navy Band (which was wonderful!) and enjoy a lunch together with friends afterwards. We were a table of 8 and the restaurant was very busy but the service was excellent and our drinks and food orders were taken when we requested. We expected a longish wait for our food but within 15 minutes of our orders being taken three of our table were given their plates of fish and chips. They squeezed their lemon and salted their food and nibbled on a chip and all of a sudden all three plates were whipped away and taken to another table despite us telling them that we had already put on he lemon and salt and started eating and the lady in charge said they would just replace the lemon. Well we were gob smacked to say the least! How can you serve food to someone else when it has already been spiced according to your individual taste? we actually had a bit of a laugh about it but what they did is really not right.
we were served our own meals about 20 minutes later and the food was delicious but I do think the management should take this up with the Lady who was overseeing the meals as she was the one who instructed the waitresses to take the food away despite knowing that we had already started on the meal.
The Dry Dock is a beautiful restaurant with stunning views and good food.
