“Warm Welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We arrived at the Guest House on a dull rainy afternoon but we were given a warm welcome and bags were quickly taken to our room - a beautiful room. It was tastefully decorated and nicely furnished. Lovely modern bathroom. Sadly the weather did not enable us to make use of the balcony with its sea view. Our host was a mine of information on local things to see and do. We had an excellent breakfast and there was no problem providing me with marmite toast for my perfectly poached egg. My husband voted the coffee first rate. The guest house is a little out of time, but this is no problem as a tuk-tuk provides a service to and from the centre..We made use of this when we went for out for dinner - there is no restaurant service in the evening. First class!

We spent three nights in early September in this lovely B&B. The hosts were incredibly helpful with suggestions for places to see, restaurants, and activities. They made reservations for us, provided maps and insight into the local area. They provided the right amount of interest and help without being intrusive. Lavender Manor is just a couple of blocks from the cliff walk, which we took each day into town. Breakfast was very good, with both cold and made to order hot dishes. Very nicely appointed room and bathroom. Although it is outside of town and we had a car, we opted to use the tuk-tuk several times for dinner, which the hosts arranged for us. A lovely experience.

Our second visit and same very high quakity throughout.Front rooms overlook the Atlantic and offer the chance of spotting whales in the bay June to Nov and rear rooms have mountain view.Internal decor is of highest standard and rooms have every amenity and several very nice additional touches. The husband and wife team are very friendly and helpful and will book restaurants etc and give good advice if needed. They helped us to find a quiet bay some 30 kilometres away where we found severak whales away from the crush of Hermanus on the peak weekend of the year.A restaurant they suggested and booked for us was also excellent.Breakfast is first class with choice of english or buffet style.
Altogether,you won't find a better B and B anywhere.

Room Tip: room 1 overlooks the ocean with views of whales in season

If you want whale watching without the boat look no further,
we had 4 nights here and i have put this as the best stay of our trip, it justs beats the safari stay,
we had room 1 and was watching whales before we got out of bed,
the rooms are very clean and all you need in them if not just ask isabel she can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable, belive me i know thanks to isabel i got to see the sharks, who demanded that the marine dynamics boat took me at short notice, also to sorting out getting our coats from the last place we stayed at, yep i left them there Doh!!
we had the magic 4 poster bed in our room you go down for breakfast and by time you get back to the room the bed was made,
the coast path is a very short walk away but i would sugeest you only walk to the old harbour as when you walk all the way to the new harbour theres nothing there,
maps available and books all about the whales
there is also a very well stocked trust bar upstairs
we would recomend Lavender Manor to any one who wants whale watching and a loverly place to stay look no further
thanks from Andy and Carole

Room Tip: room 1 veiwing whales in bed

From the arranging of our trip from Australia, assisting with organising for a very special birthday weekend away with family, the preparation of the perfect wine to be available to mark our arrival, the most spectacular roses for the occasion, coordinating a whale watching adventure, recommending restaurants which suited us perfectly through to excellent but discreet hospitality Kobus's well informed attention to detail for our stay was superb.
We can highly recommend Lavender Manor as the guest house of choice for a relaxed base to take in all that Hermanus has to offer.
Anton and Margaret.

Mountains on one side, the glorious sea teaming with whales, dolphins , islands with seals and penguins, pristine white sand, lagoons, rugged rocks
All of this in Hermanus with the treat of staying at Lavender Manor 5 minutes away from Grotto Beach! You sit on the veranda and can spot the whales.
The rooms arranged with care, love and very good taste.
The staff caring and lovely
The breakfast excellent!
The owners Kobus and Isabelle hovering , always interested, sharing information and advice
The manor is near the scenic spectacular cliff walks , the Milkwood woods and many more sights
Easy to drive to wineries nearby and to other enjoyable places; Franschoek, Stellenbosch and Cape Town
DO NOT miss the Eco Marine boat trip with Whale Watchers who are bent on the conservation of the sea inhabitants including White sharks
The BEST holiday we have ever had!!!
