We stayed at 17 Wellington for 2 nights while looking for property in George. We travelled with our 4 year old and stayed in one of the family suites. The location was central and therefore made it much easier for us to go to many different places with minimum travelling time.

The service was outstanding, the staff being incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good, especially the chicken livers and muffins (not together). The room was clean with a lot of attention to detail. The gas geyser took some getting used to and only having showers in our particular suite did make it a bit difficult with a 4 year old but we will just ensure to get a suite with a bath next time.

Overall, it was a really pleasant stay and very affordable. We would highly recommend it, particularly to families.

Hi Leigh & family,

What a great family you make! We hope you found the perfect spot to stay. Thanks a million for the valuable review, I've made a note with regards to the bath so you can be assured that you'll get exactly what you prefer.

Accomodation was very good and well positioned. Very comfortable in every regard and I especially liked the indigenous garden. Internet connectivity was not always available and also too slow. Cleaning staff should possibly check cupboards for residues from previous guests. Bits of pasta and spilled coffee powder remained for the entire week I was there. Having said all this I would stay again.

The good stuff: Very friendly, helpful staff; good breakfasts-combination buffet and freshly cooked. The devilled chicken liver, scrambled eggs and bacon were delicious. Apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and furnished and decorated to make you feel at home. Private balcony with barbecue and good view of mountains. Televisions in both bedrooms and living room.

Things to be aware of: Be careful of sudden temperature change in showers with change in water pressure-there was no bath, but each room had an en-suite toilet and shower. The heating is not designed for those who like it hot-the living room heated to around 19-20 degrees in August, so if you are a cold blooded soul either supplementary heating or appropriate clothing required to stay toasty. There is no washing machine in the apartment-this wasn't an issue for us, as we stayed only a short time.
All in all a very good place to stay and a place we would certainly think of going back to, if we were in George again.

Good day to you. Thank you for your feedback its greatly appreciated. I'm happy to report that we are in the process of getting the gas geysers replaced, we are currently deciding on a alternative option so our guests can enjoy steaming hot water & no temperature change when showering, we would have looked into this sooner but we had no complaints during summer season so we decided to keep going green!

We hope to welcome you back to our beautiful country & town in the near future.

Best regards

We had initially booked a double room en suite for three nights while up in George as spectators for a three day sports tournament. When we arrived, the manager showed us the room we had booked, which looked perfect for a business overnight stay, but was perhaps a bit small for two people making a longer stay.

She offered us the apartment alongside for just R100 more (i.e. R50 each extra). This seemed a good deal, as it was nearly three times the size of the original room we had viewed, and included a lounge, kitchenette and dining room - leading on to a small exclusive use garden, with a table and chairs - as well as an outdoor built in barbecue. Both lounge and bedroom had flat screen TV. Like the original room offered, breakfast was included.

Rooms were very new, fresh and modern, with funky up-cycled wood framed tapestries and bright soft furnishings. Bathroom and kitchenette fixtures and fittings were a nice quality. I was worried about the shower, as previous reviewers had mentioned a lack of hot water. No need for concern, plenty of hot water available - just don't use the cold tap at all in winter.

They have thought of everything. There is an iron and ironing board available in a small narrow cupboard. If you wish to make us of the cooking facilities - there is, as mentioned the barbecue, as well as a two-ring gas hob and a microwave. There is a fridge-freezer as well. There is a small supermarket in walking distance - and a much larger one a short drive away. If you plan to barbecue, ask one of the managers for the name of the local butcher who supplies their exceptional breakfast sausages. He is something of a local legend. There are numerous chain restaurants in easy walking distance - Nando's and Steers to name two. We had dinner at La Capannina, a short drive away, which was very good.

Breakfast is served in a small dining room overlooking the little pool and outdoor area. As we were there in the depth of winter, we had no chance to make use of this. Breakfast has a good variety - fresh fruit salad, home baked muffins, a variety of breads, cheese and cold meat. You can also order a full house English breakfast - which was excellent (see earlier mention of superb pork chipolata sausages!)

There is a panel heater in the lounge and another in the bedroom. We were warm and comfortable on three very cold nights.

There is exceptional attention to detail, with a lot of amusing re-cycled and up-cycled items providing lots of surprises in the garden and enclosed parking area. The staff we met were exceptionally helpful and friendly - the right kind of people to be in the hospitality industry.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting extremely comfortable, central accommodation in George, that is suited to both short business and longer term leisure stays. It is as an excellent base to get to know the area.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms have small exclusive use gardens. Upper floors have balconies and views over the...

Nice rooms, spacy suite, very clean and good service, but the warmwater gas-silinder
is a big problem, no warm water at all, we could't shower at all!
Please take a good look at your gasheaters, no warm water at all, but
a gas-smell in the suite was the result.

Good day Gerda,

Thank you for still giving us a rating of 3 out of 5 even-though you had a warm water crisis, I'm happy to report that we are getting all the little problems that could spoil a great stay fixed. As in any new business tribulations will arise therefore we appreciate all the feedback, its very valuable to us.

Thank you once again.

Warm regards
Theresa

The room I stayed in had a seperate lounge and kitchen, dining area, all very mod, neet and clean. TV in both room and lounge.
Only a shower, but even though it was very much self catering able with a verander area for your room etc, there is breakfast included which is great in a dining area a few steps away. Only critism I found was that the hot water ended a bit quick. Excellent quality though and value for money. Central to all areas in George.
