“Great location and facilities...very poor quality of service.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012 via mobile

Attended a conference at this hotel. The quality of care and attention by the staff was very poor. More interested in generating money than providing service. The staff are clearly being managed and driven by the wrong kpi's and service quality is suffering as a result. The food and beverage services were particularly poor. A great potential hotel, but come on, get your act in gear on service.

We stayed here for 1 night and 2 days whilst travelling the Garden Route. The golf course is superb as is the club house. Excellent food for lunch at the club house (and kid friendly) - very impressive & delicious dinner and breakfast buffet in the main hotel restaurant. The rooms are modern and luxurious. The pool area is a bit small and there are too few deck-chairs. Not much to do at the actual hotel if you're not a golfer but great beaches very nearby. It's an excellent base from which to explore the area. Told the spa is good, but didn't use it ourselves. Very friendly and capable staff.

This was undoubtedly the best weekend getaway I've been on!
Staff treated us like royalty, the hotel is 5 star all the way- it's one of the nicest looking hotels I've stayed in.
Our room was great- so stylish and modern!
The breakfast was perfect! They have a "secret" cold-oats recipe that I had seconds of each morning- truly a taste experience.
The golf course...! Well words cannot begin to describe- it will leave you breathless.
The views are stunning.
Overall I did not have one single bad thing to say- this was an incredible stay and I have recommended it to everyone I know.

The title sums it up - the hotel is in a beautiful area with large open spaces, and the contemporary architecture maximises the stunning views over the sea and mountains (across the natural landscape and golf course). Stunning art and sculptures are seen within and outside of the hotel.
The hotel rooms are exceptionally plush and comfortable with nothing at all lacking. The linen is of superior quality, the furnishings are modern and the views magnificent. We stayed in the Regency Club and enjoyed delectable and beautifully presented canapes and drinks in the evening. The Club Lounge is excellent, with a wide variety of quality teas and coffees throughout the day, as well as other snacks.
The pool area is large but well designed and laid-out, creating small pockets of deck chairs, affording the visitors some privacy and descretion. Drinks and snacks were offered by friendly attendants.
Breakfast was the highlight of the day however, with a delectable range of hot and cold options, served by friendly, professional and efficient staff. The quality of the food was exceptionally high, with an enormous range of fresh fruits, yoghurts, cereals, hot food and the most exquisite freshly baked breads, croissants and other sweet treats. Truly the ideal way to start the day.
The Clubhouse at Oubaai is also a wonderful short drive through the residential area on the golf course for a sunset drink and snack - again, top quality.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel as one of the best in South Africa.

My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt for 3 nights in December during our annual summer vacation. The service at the hotel was incredible! I am in the hotel industry, so my eye is sometimes critical, but every aspect of service at the hotel was excellent - from the spa to the waiters, front office staff, porters, pool attendants, cleaners - all were friendly and helpful, but above that, they knew how to do their jobs. Often a quality lacking in the South African Hotel Industry - friendliness can only take you so far..

The room was stunning! I quite enjoyed the Do Not Disturb sign being electronically and the fact that its operated from the bedside. The bathroom is a haven and so is the bedroom. Its spacious and luxurious.

The breakfast was phenomenal with an excellent variety and efficient, quick service. We often had snacks and drinks at the Waterside Bar. These were excellent and extremely cheap!

What was great about the hotel was that even though it is a major resort, the activities and restaurants as well as the accommodation is not over-priced. Having travelled quite a bit, I have come to expect that at resorts like this the prices are normally astronomical.

Overall a great experience and we'll be back soon!!

Spent one night at the hotel while attending a wedding. I have to say that the buildings, decor, facilities and rooms are fantastic - exactly what you would expect from a 5 Star hotel! Unfortunately everything else is very poor indeed. Waited 20 min for a beer at the pool only to be told the bar isn't open, this was at 5pm in the afternoon? The food at the wedding I attended was pathetic. My check out was probably the poorest I have ever experinced - 30 min to check me out!

I would return - but would definately not pay the going rate for that sort of service!

The rooms are very nice and large but the "seaview" is distant - not great for sitting outside on the balcony. Fantastic bathrooms!
Air Conditioning was not good as we struggled to cool the room down enough.
The rooms are expensive - for the rates that are charged one expects perfection, which was unfortunately not delivered.
Buffet Restaurant was distinctly average - nothing bad but nothing extremely good either.
Overall not a bad experience but I don't think I would return because there is definitely better "value of money" available in the area.

Room Tip: make sure you get a room with sea view on the top floor so that you look over the buildings in front...
