“Stunning location, luxurious accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

We stayed here for four nights while visiting Cape Town. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough for you and the room, a Premier Room, was huge with a luxurious bathroom, open plan. We had a terrace outside with seating area for meals if required. The two restaurants served fabulous food, one modern Italian Bistro the others, The Caterina, a more formal dining room. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to Cape Town and back which was very helpful. My husband very much enjoyed his game of golf on the course but could only get a 7a.m. tee time! The course is owned by the residents who live round the course. I would highly recommend this hotel for a spoiling and peaceful stay when visiting Cape Town. One of my favourite hotels ever!

Room Tip: Rooms outside the main building with their own private terrace

My husband and I spent 4 nights here after 10 days touring S. Africa on safari. We were treated royally from my first communications online with Mr. Eugene Smith to our check out. We are golfers so that was our first consideration. The golf course is beautiful and challenging but not unduly so. We were initially booked in a superior room in the main lodge which was pleasant. After touring the grounds we asked if a room with a view was available. We upgraded into room 26 which is a LOVELY Premier Suite with a view of the golf course and vineyards! Our first dinner at Catharina's was delightful with Terri as our charming server. She thoughtfully decorated our table with crystals and rose petals for our 25th anniversary. We strolled back to our suite to find the bed and bath decorated with rose petals and lavender! Their attention to detail was superb! We enjoyed massages in the spa and a private wine tour with Kayla, a passionate wine enthusiast. Tom thoughtfully took us to a nearby mall for my husband's "pizza" fix one night. We felt right at home . . . but it was so much better! Thank you Steenberg for making this a truly memorable celebration!

Room Tip: We loved the premier suite #26. Rooms 27 and 28 in the same building are slightly smaller but have...

We stayed four nights at the Steenberg hotel during our Cape Town vacation. The hotel is in a great safe and secure gated community with the wine vineyards and a golf course. The hotel is ~20 minutes from Cape Town so it is a good base for touring and then giving you a relaxed location to return to. The hotel restaurant is excellent and the service was great. We definitely would recommend to all our friends to visit Cape Town and stay at Steenberg.

The best hotel we have been so far. The staff were fantastic, on our last day, since our flight was in the evening we visited the Cape of Good Hope reserve and when we returned, though we had already checked out in the morning, they gave us a room to change and freshen up before going to the airport. We tried the spa and both restaurants which are both excellent. Their wines are also very good though maybe not impressive, but there's no need to worry: the wine list has all you could wish. The beauty of the landscapes and of the hotel and rooms is also remarkable. I doubt we would stay anywhere else in case we travel to the Cape area.

During our recent four-week African safari, my husband and I had the pleasure of spending four nights at this lovely country resort located on a historic wine farm near Cape Town. The warm hospitality of the staff and the luxurious accommodations were so very comfortable. We wished that we could have spent more time there. In addition to the friendly staff, fine food at the restaurants and elegantly appointed rooms, they offer a shuttle service to guests who wish to go to the waterfront in Cape Town. But I must say that there is more than enough to enjoy without leaving the beautiful Steenberg Estate.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 12 which overlooked a lovely, relaxing garden.

We have just returned from a holiday to South Africa which included a 5 night stay at the Steenberg Hotel on the edge of Cape Town. This was located in the centre of it's own vineyards at the foot of the Table Mountain range.A truly stunning location and a hotel stay to match. The location, quality of service, food(at Catharina's on site restaurant and in the Boutique 1682 which was part of the hotel winery complex) and general ambience were superb and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We had a memorable stay which will remain with us for a very long time. Karen,Graham and Emily Watson.

We stayed here for the first few nights of our South Africa trip. We were in the Malbec villa - the room was so comfortable and the decor lovely. We loved the outside space and sun loungers out back. The food and wine were spectacular. We also played a couple rounds of golf - the course is beautiful though very challenging! The service was impeccable, very relaxed yet attentive. Definitely worth visiting bistro 1862 for a wine tasting/cellar tour.
