Named BistroSixteen82 after the year in which Steenberg was first established, the interactive wine and food destination has seen an overwhelming amount of local and foreign guests, since its opening in November 2009. With an ambience that embodies opulent chic, BistroSixteen82 seamlessly complements Steenberg's popular fine dining restaurant, Catharina's.Intrepid chef and bistro dining specialist Brad Ball, of the River Café and Olympia Café fame, lends his gastronomic savvy to the 70-seater Bistro Sixteen82. “World class location - some strange menu options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

Surrounded by vineyards, overlooked by mountains and enveloped by water features & a calming decor, one would be forgiven for believing one was in some distant exotic land.
While the quality of the food is superb, if you visit for breakfast, be aware that their 'bacon' actually means 'pork belly' and a good chunk of the stuff! Not for the faint of heart when faced with delicate flavours of eggs Benedict only then having to deal with a too-fatty strip of pork- belly, which, despite all efforts, cannot be accepted as the 'crispy bacon' requested!
Service is usually excellent, but the staff should alert unwary breakfasters as to the local definition of 'bacon'!

“its ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

this bistro on steenberg estate puzzles me whenever i drive up there - yes i like the setting of the bistro which is overlooking the valley up until tokai and further , yes this i like a lot.
why there is a bistro when they have one of the very fine restaurants of cape town, the cathrina`s (serving lunch and dinner), i do not know.
they offer the same as all the other "posh" bistro`s , outside seating is possible, families gathering here on weekends (very very loud and uncomfortable, especially during brunch and tea time) and the golfers of course

“Beautiful Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

The Bistro is hidden away on the Steenberg Estate. If you are in Constantia you should visit and you'll love it. Very modern, scenic and open overlooking vinyards and the Constantia valley, the ambience, srvice and food are 'just right'. Don't be in a hurry to get the best of this place. Must book in advance and best for lunch as it closes early(7pm). Tapas from 4pm.

“Happy Birthday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We attended the Bistro's 4th birthday party recently. We really enjoyed the 5 course meal, but felt that the promise of an exciting celebration fell a bit flat. We got off to a bad start when the security staff at the gate almost turned us away because they had not been briefed about the evening's special event. As we had organised the visit for family and friends this gave me quite a shock and I was more than ready for the welcoming drink when it eventually arrived!
A great meal, but let down by the lack of organisation and excessive noise.

“What a start to the day”

Great location, atmosphere and service. Brilliant breakfast, great start to the day. Follow with a wine-tasting perhaps?
