“A homely feel B&B at Cape Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Although Port View Guesthouse is not a guesthouse on the waterfront, it has a beautiful sunrise port view on the top floor rooms' balcony. When I stayed there, I enjoyed to take the sunrise photos every morning.
The cheerful little garden of the house was welcoming its guests. Although the house is a bit aged, rooms are clean and bright. The house owner has chosen good quality bed mattresses, so we all had a good sleep in such a quiet upper slope house.
The location is so convenient. It is easily to reach the stadium in 5 minutes walk, and to reach The Waterfront, just 10-15 minutes. And there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby on the Main Road.
The breakfast was good. Fresh fruit, cold cuts, choices of cereals, your choice of egg and beacon. The most important thing to me was a good quality fresh brewed coffee to wake up my eyes.
Thank you again for all friendly staffs there to take care of our stay. I am sure

Room Tip: Upper floor with better view.

The rooms of this Bead and breakfast are a bit small and old. Unfortunately the rooms are also not very well maintained. Specifically the bathroom and the windows could use an update. The breakfast however was of good quality and the staff was friendly and helpfull. The location is good, but for a Bead and Breakfast with the name Port View guesthouse you would expect at least a view. There was none.

Relaxed. Accessible. Brilliant breakfast. Good rooms. I can easily recommend staying here for a chilled, easy going time in Cape Town. At this price really great value for money. You can walk to quite a few places around the corner, and at night it is quiet.

I really enjoyed my stay at this B&B, it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was enjoyable and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
I think that this B&B is in a good location, because it is a close walk to the stadium so if you are coming to Cape Town to watch a sporting event or concert at the CT stadium it is a really good location. If you are driving the only thing to remember is that there are road closers that occur when major events are held at the Cape Town stadium and due to the B&B's location it will have an impact on you and it might take longer to get to the B&B to check in, therefore go early check in and walk to the stadium, it is safe to walk back at night after the event and there are also plenty of bars and restaurants along the Main Road. If you are coming to Cape Town for a city break, to do some shopping and see some sights it is a bit further to walk to the V&A, Aquarium and so on, but it can be easily done although it might not be suitable at night, but you can always catch a taxi which probably won't cost a fortune because it is close. If you do drive then it is easier as there is plenty of parking at the V&V.. Yes, there is limited parking at the B&B but it is Greenpoint and most people who live there park their cars on the street.

Room Tip: Stay on top level, probably a better view.

There is no parking. You park on the road. The outside is beautiful. This is a old house. They give you a room to stay in. It is very old and dated and very depressing to stay in. I would never want to book a place like this ever again. Very dissapointed. The breakfast is not even up to standard. I booked online and pictures are very deceiving.

Room Tip: never book at this place you will be dissapointed.

Port View House was just what we needed - short walk to the V&A Waterfront, spacious room, free secure parking and Jason was the perfect host. The room was clean and there was plenty of hot water. Having visited in winter, Cape Town is cold, but our room was warm and if we had to complain about anything it would be that the lighting in the bathroom was not really adequate. Breakfast was good and we were well looked after - thank you

Room Tip: Upstairs front rooms have balcony and look out to the harbour

We needed a guest house close to the V&A Waterfront. The web site suggests that Port View is a "short walk" from the V&A - this is not entirely correct since it is at least 15-20 minutes away and not a walk that I would do at night. And that is exactly what we wanted - to be able to walk back to the guest house after dinner. The rooms are spacious but not very well equipped. TV did not have a remote and it took the owners over 2 hours to replace the remote - and then the TV did not work. Also difficult to reach the owners since no contact numbers are displayed. Although there is off street parking this is limited to 3 cars and we had to park in the street. Although not all bad it is the little things that do make a difference
