“Amazing to see penguins in SA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

It was great to be able to observe the penguins going about their daily lives. It was the time of year when the penguins were sitting on their eggs - the parents took it in turn to sit on the egg. Was interesting watching how the penguins dealt with a marauding sea gull. Well worth a visit.

“Penguins on a beautiful beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

I found it really bizarre to find penguins on the beach in the stunning sunshine. However, this beach is well kept, fairly quiet and full of penguins! This place is a must visit.

“A so - so Attraction”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Not much to see, other than a group of African penguins on the beach just outside Simon's Town. You walk along an elevated boardwalk to where the penguins are hanging out. If your lucky, you can be there when they come back onto land after feeding in the sea. A so-so spot to visit if you come up the Eastern side of the Cape on the way back from visiting Cape Point.

“Penguins in the African sun - simply unbelievable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We LOVED our trip to the Boulder Beach, visiting the penguins! You hear people talking about it, but until you see them hanging out there on the rocks in the little lagoon, you don't quite believe it. It was an amazing experience, even went home with a little bite of one cheeky little guy .-) Would definitely recommend going to the proper beach vs. the viewing platform (which is supposed to be extremely touristy!). You pay a few Rand entry as it's a little national park. The good thing is as well that they keep the numbers of people visiting the beach to a limit. It was still super crowded and I wished that little kids wouldn't scare the penguins away so much, but at least there is a 'top lid' at some point and they wait for people leaving before they let more in. You'll LOVE it if you love animals and seeing them in their element and chosen place to live!

“See the African penguins”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

This is a lovely coastal area with dramatic views. The main attraction is a colony of African penguins--this is the only place in the world where they can be found. The are on the beach, under vegetation--a delightful sight and a good place to learn more about them.
