“Extremely cosy B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2012

Thiis B&B is so cosy and relaxed that you feel home at once. Breakfast is rich and healthy, only fresh food is served. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is good, the beach is in walking distance. Lots of restaurants in the area. For our next stay in Cape Town we will definitively choose Sweet Orange House again. We recommend it to everyone liking a home-style, relaxed atmosphere.

Sweet Orange is a pretty B&B in Sea Point and the location is good (close to the beach and not so far from Waterfront and Cape Town). We had no problem to park the car in the street and you don't need a GPS to go there.
The staff is friendly and you can feel like "at home" specially if you like old classic houses.
The breakfast served in the garden is not so terrific and a bit expensive. The Wi-fi is charged and very expensive.
We felt that Sweet Orange, formely a backpakers' accomodation, is now moving to a more traditionnal hotel making this place less cool than it has been supposed to be ;-)

Room Tip: 1st floor is probably quieter

This place is well located in Sea Point, close to the shops and the boulevard (where the hop on - hop off bus stops). The rooms are cozy and home like and there is a small garden where you can sit outside. All the rooms are different and the staff was friendly.
Wifi and breakfast are charged, the breakfast is decent value, the WiFi is expensive.

Stayed here twice about a month apart. First stay was marred by struggles with front door lock which also kept us awake with other guests needing help. This was resolved by second visit thankfully. Although advertised as B&B, breakfast not included in most bookings -- but 59rand bought a filling breakfast. Best room is Dreams (upstairs) for decor and relatively quiet. Expensive wifi.

Sweet Orange Guesthouse is located in an older villa in Sea Point, the Jewish quarter of Cape Town. Sea Point Promenade with shops and restaurants is at a walking distance. It is a quiet and safe accommodation for the weary traveller, most of its visitors are backpackers.

Rooms are clean and showers are OK. The hostel is relatively far from Waterfront but it is easy to get a bus or at night a taxi. The hostel has a patio behind the house where you can sit outside and breakfast is served. The breakfast is very good.

The Sweet Orange is a nice place, with friendly staffs that clean, wash linen on request (extra) and prepare breakfast. There is a large kitchen were you can also have breakfast or sit and enjoy a tea. The friendly owner is present in the morning, apparently he runs more B&B’s.

Charged £500 for 3 nights for 2 us for 1 room during Englands world cup visit.
No hot water in the sink but shower was good. Concete bath. Yes CONCRETE! Location up a side street . Need a taxi to get to the centre.
Breakfast was decent.
Stayed in better hostels than this. Overated and overpriced.
One of the main reasons why thousands of world cup fans didnt visit South Africa.
One word. EXPLOITED by greedy owners.
