After eight weeks of travelling our trip took us to Cape Town for two days. To our delight we were warmly welcomed by the owners who quickly made refreshments and told us about their home.
The owners had created an interesting and stylish environment for guests to relax. They used a bold strong colour palatte to create an authentic period property with a modern twist.
The gardens were beautifully designed and maintained. Our bedroom looked onto the front garden with a formal pond filled with fish. The bedroom had stained real wood floor board. With high ceilings the room was painted deep plum, which complemented the dark oak furniture.
A downside of the room was the "ensuite" shower room. The facilities were entirely within the bedroom itself. The only thing separating the toilet pan from the bed was a small fabric screen.
Breakfast was above average and served in a large formal dining room. As it was the winter season there were few guests staying and therefore breakfast felt like a rather large empty room. The owners prepared the breakfast in an adjacent kitchen. Unfortunately a breeze blew cigarette smoke through from the kitchen into the non-smoking breakfast room.
The B&B is located a short taxi ride from the town centre and conveniently close to the access point to Table Mountain. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning if we had a bedroom with more traditional ensuite facilities.
