“My Best Holiday Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2009

Having been to Cape Town for the 5th time, this was definitely the best stay so far. The guest house is a gem, rooms are nicely decorated & luxurious. The hosts make you feel at home & help whereever help is needed. The location is great, easy access to the city bowl as well as to the Clifton Beaches & Camps Bay. I loved the entire stay & felt very sad when I had to leave. Will return asap!

This was our first stay at Blackheath Lodge and we loved it! There's such an ease that we felt while staying at the lodge and our holiday truly began the second we were greeted at the front door. We stayed upstairs and our room was wonderfully appointed with a nice view, sitting room, great closet space and a comfy king size bed.
The daily breakfast served on the veranda was a great way to start the day. Freshly baked muffins, perfectly ripe fruit and eggs any style. Yum! We would recommend to anyone visiting Cape Town a stay at Blackheath. Our holiday was a dream come true and Antony, John and their team certainly contributed to our perfect holiday.

My wife and I stayed at Blackheath Lodge with our friends for 7 nights in November and had a fantastic time in Cape Town. We loved the informality and friendliness of Antony, John and team - whether it's drinks on the balcony, a fantastic breakfast, the large quality bedrooms & furnishings or sorting our itinerary and restaurant bookings. Cape Town is a wonderful city, we only scratched the surface, Blackheath Lodge made it all the more special. 5 out of 5 does not do this place justice.

We arrived at Blackheath Lodge after a mad dash to return the rental car and the oasis that it prived to be was most welcome. This is one of the few Hotels/Guest Houses I have stayed in where the pictures are actually true. The (heated) pool area is relaxing, wll appointed/equipped with lovely sun loungers and enough to go around.

We were welcomed with cold wine and were provided with drinks and all our needs were catered for, the room was beautifully furnished and all the staff were friendly and efficient.

It is nice to meet owners who are genuine, helpful and take great pride in their property and I know it may seem strange but we felt like we were staying with friends. Oh and the breakfast was lovely!

Everything about Blackheath Lodge was topnotch from the most welcoming of staffs, location, beautiful rooms and neverending delicious breakfasts to the friendly resident cats. Antony and John, the owners, set the mark for outstanding service with the rest of their staff, constantly ensuring your comfort and assisting with all aspects of your stay as an excellent concierge service would. Their restaurant recommendations and assistance in reservations were always right on and truly appreciated. The beautiful Victorian home has been recently renovated both tastefully and comfortably. Our room was large with an extremely comfortable king bed, large functional bathroom, with a glimpse of the ocean from the private patio. Our only regret is that we were not able to enjoy the beautiful pool and fabulous deck area due to the inclement weather.

My husband & I arrived to a wounderful welcome by Antony and from the start we knew we would be having a fantastic holiday, shown to our lovely room with everything we could possibly need or want.
Antony and his team saw to our ever need, sorting resturants, trips, taxis and advising us on where to go and what to see, nothing was too much for them.
We look forward to going back sooner rarther than later.

We Traveled to Cape Town for part of our honeymoon, and were looking for a stellar place to stay, we considered the top notch places around town, and decided we wanted a less stuffy, more local, and "real" feel, so we stayed at the Blackheath Lodge. They don' t have the fancy high tea vibe, but they do have a centrally located beautiful property that has more charm and character than you could hope for.

Every nice hotel has a bed, food, and good service, but our experience at Blackheath was like staying with good friends that gave you the inside scoop to the city. Antony and and the rest of the staff never steered us wrong from nightly dinner reservations, arranging transport, hiring a car, wine tour bookings, transport, and even what to order for breakfast enjoyed around their pool. They are first class in the hospitality industry.

I would recommend anyone to stay here, be it on a honeymoon, a business trip, a family, a holiday, whatever. We came as guests and left as friends, and had an amazing stay.
