“Our Cape Town home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

We are very pleased with our stay at BHL. It began with our welcome by Jean Claude and continued with the warmth and friendliness of Michelle, Antony and the rest of this team. Our need was attended to. Highlights were the breakfast and eating area, the pool in the afternoon. I have fond memories of many of us guests returning to the Lodge mid afternoon tired from our excursions of the day. We would take up our lounge chair around the pool, open a book, enjoy a glass of wine or cup of tea, pretty soon you could look around at most who had fallen asleep including the two resident cats. Such a comforting sight in the midst of everyone's busy schedule. We also felt very safe and cared for here. The internet worked well. Rose & Miranda, Prince George British Columbia Canada

Room Tip: Our room didn't have any views and I would ask for this next time.

We love Cape Town, and stay at the Blackheath Lodge made our 2nd visit to this lovely city even more pleasant. Antony and his team (special comment about Jean Claude: extremely attentive and helpful) are always thinking about how to make your trip enjoyable, relaxed and safe.
We warmly recommend the Blackheath Lodge.

Blackheath lodge, run by Antony and John, is fantastic. It is cozy but modern, tasteful, inviting, extremely clean and very relaxed. The location is exactly where you want to be: steps to the beach, restaurants, the city and Table Mountain. The breakfasts are astonishingly good with friendly, approachable service.

Antony and John managed to squeeze us in on short notice and organized an incredible itinerary for us throughout the Western Cape including Franschoek and Hermanus . Their advice and recommendations for restaurants and accommodation were invaluable in ensuring we have a fantastic trip. Nice guesthouses are fairly common in South Africa, but the service we received was truly unique and amazing.

We will definitely be back to Blackheath, but next time we will stay much longer!

We booked this B&B on the strength of other Tripadvisor reviews for one week in April 2011. We wanted a relaxing week in Cape Town after a 14-day tour of SA, and somewhere special to spend our 20th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed! On arrival we were met by Antony and the 2 resident cats, Lime & Soda, before settling in to our sunny loft room. Blackheath Lodge is located in a quiet residential area between Signal Hill and the Atlantic seaboard, and our room had lovely views of both. The pool is immaculately clean and very inviting after a warm day out. Breakfasts are high quality, delicious, and very varied. Antony, Michelle, John and the team are very friendly and helpful. The morning of our anniversary, Michelle had strewn rose petals all over our breakfast table and left a trail of them leading from our room. Beautiful!
I would unreservedly recommend Blackheath Lodge to anyone looking for somewhere special in Cape Town.

Room Tip: If you don't mind stairs, go for the loft rooms. Very cosy, quiet, sunny, and a lovely view out...

First class in every department. From the moment we arrived to the moment we sadly left. We were treated to exceptional service from Antony and John and there wonderful team.
Blackheath Lodge is a genuine home from home, which is a rare and unique feeling to create, and one that should be experienced if you wish to get the most out of your time in Cape Town and South Africa.

I for one will definitely be back, as I can’t speak highly enough about Blackheath Lodge.

Had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff are very helpful. There is a heated pool where it's nice to dip after a sunburnt day on the beach. The beds are giant sized. Rooms have air con. There's a DVD library for when you can't sleep. They've thought of everything. I'm a photography and travel with expensive equipmeny so safety is a concern. My stuff was safe and looked after. Will definately stay again.

A very lovely and charming place.. all details were thought about.. Was so nice to chill out next to the lovely pool.. The breakfast was so delicious.. Antony was so helpfull to plan the next spots of our holiday.. Such a nice and thoughtful host.. Just like all the staff..
There were a mobile phone with a local sim.. We were allowed to take it with us when we go out..so we could easily call taxi or any other local place.. such a convenience.. important numbers already saved.. so also give a safe feeling.. Great idea..
It was also good to see that there was a fund to help the children of the staff to continue their education..
