“Outstanding”

12 Apostles Hotel & Spa

Apr 28, 2008

Our first trip to south africa and what a start. Picked up from airport hours drive to hotel.
Smoothly checked in bags quickly taken to room. Room had a lovely view of 12 apostles. Lots of room. We were traveling with our kids 7 and 10. We had plenty of room. They were given a gift on a arrival.

Restaurant was lovely Wine and food fabulous.

The staff always greeted you by name and were so helpful. Couldn't do enough for us. PJ was great at recommending spier wine tasting. You could go and stroke a cheetah which was amazing. They had lots of eagles and owls you could handle great for the kids.
Lots of lovely seating areas sundeck beautiful pools. The spa was amazing too floatation pool and wirlpool are set in a cave. Very relaxing.
Loads to do in Cape Town Table Mountain, Cape Point, Boulder beach,Fantastic place.
Definitely recommend it.

The overall experience - a really lovely spot! I spent there a few nights with my boyfriend and we enjoyed it really. The room had ocean view - but like my fellow visitor mentioned: the road IS noisy and you will not be able to enjoy sitting on that balcony watching the seaside while having sound like being in NYC. That´s a real flaw.
Nevertheless, excellent rooms, facilities, etc. The pools are small, yes - and only one is on the sunny side. But not only in this area, everything is kinda small and narrow.
The food is great, I can recommend that & and of course the Leopard´s bar is a highlight of this hotel.

For my next stay I will not return here. The style was to old-fashioned and way too colonial/British (Patterns on the walls, furniture, etc.) The typical African lodges are much nicer and also a little less expensive.

The spa is also one thing which can be recommended :-)

We spent 11 nights in the presidential suite (as other sea facing suites were all booked) seeing all the sights of Cape Town. We had a great stay and received good personal service. The hotel description does hide the noisy road which it is next to, the hotel mountain walks are extremely limited and the swimming pools are small - although it is possible to use a larger gym in Cape Town. That said the views of the sea and mountain are great, the atmosphere in the hotel is friendly and the spa, shuttle and advice services are good.

“very close to perfect”

12 Apostles Hotel & Spa

this hotel is wonderful - excellent location, great views, accesible to V&A and Downtown Capetown. wnderful spa, excellent service. two critisisms: i was surprised how small some of the rooms are, and we had to ask to be switched out of a tiny room. staff did this and treated us excellently. sencondly - for a spa "retreat" hotel, i was surprised that there seemed to be no restrictions on children, in the bar, at the pools, in the restaurant. i'm not against kids in a hotel, but in this style hotel, i was surprised that they were apparently given the run of the place.

“Not quite what we hoped”

12 Apostles Hotel & Spa

This hotel regularly wins best Spa Hotel in South Africa, which is why we booked it for Christmas 2007. However, it wasn't quite as special as we had hoped.

The hotel itself is small, which makes it quite boutiquey, but the grounds are pretty limited, and it's flanked on one side by a busy road. This means that you're sitting on the lovely terrace eating breakfast (which was very good), and gazing out to the sea, but inbetween you and the sea is the road, which totally spoils the effect. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

However, the rooms are lovely, the service is fantastic and the spa is fabulous, although quite small. There are a few cute extras, like free little tubs of suncream while you're sunbathing, and nice going to bed treats like handcream. They also put a stocking on our bed on Christmas Eve which was a lovely touch.
