“Best season to visit Kirstenbosch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Kirstenbosch is lovely throughout the year. The summer concerts on the lawns with a picnic basket are not to be missed. But if you want to see the flowers at their best visit in Spring when most of the indigenous flowers are in bloom. Combine your flower viewing holiday with a drive to Postberg Reserve on the Westcoast. It is one hour from Cape Town and carpets of flowers can be seen in late July, August and often later before the south east winds damage them. For more spectacular sites travel further to Niewoudsville in Namaqualand or Biedouw Valley near Clanwilliam. You will be bowled over by the beauty.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

I went on a shuttle tour. They leave from Gate 1 on every hour. It was informative and beautiful and very helpful considering Kistenbosch is situated on the side of a mountain.

“Book a Sunday Concert now”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Absolutely idyllic location to chill out with the locals and watch some great music on a Sunday. We booked online in advance. Be sure to bring your own drinks, picnic and rug as the facilities for concert goers is really limited.

We saw a Jeremy Loops give a superb performance. To be honest though, the performer didn't really matter. The location is worth the ticket price alone.

As a tip, be sure you've also arranged your return travel. Trying to get a taxi as thousands of guests are leaving the site would be tricky.
