Even if you are averse to gardening then still go. You will come away wondering what your problem is. Having had the good fortune to see many Botanical Gardens in the World Kirstenbosch is a cut above the rest. Don't ignore the internal gardens adjacent to the main entrance as they give you a view of the worlds flowers in one place. Go off the main tracks down the side paths to find the unexpected. Go have a history minute and view the hedge planted by the Dutch. Even the shops and the restaurant are worth a visit. If you can time your visit for the South African Summer take in the Concerts in the Outdoor Amphitheatre.

Perhaps the best gardens we have visited in all of our travels. Nice walk , great setting , great facilities . Overall a really nice day.

We enjoyed a long walk through the gardens.
The route signage wasn't great and initially we found our selves going round in circles reaching dead ends. But when we found the main ways round they were really nice gardens. A great place for visiting and picnicing in the grass, by the trees or the stream

The gardens are extensive and set in a wonderful location. Entrance was inexpensive by European standards and it is served by the City Sightseeing bus. Although we visited on a Sunday morning the gardens were for the most part uncrowded and the plants and trees could be enjoyed in peace and quiet. I imagine that they would be even better, if visited in the spring when there would have been agreater selection of flowers in bloom.
