“Marvelous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012 via mobile

I always stay here when I come to cape town, and never regretted :-). The owners make you feel like being part of the family. They are always there to help, ask, organise our just chat. This very much helped me overcome the occasional insecurity I felt travelling south Africa alone!
Great location, too: close to long street, but enough up hill for me to feel save walking around, and for a marvelous view over the harbour (book the tree house room if you can...) and up table mountain. Oh, and a breakfast to die for...
Not, however, recommended for people with fear or allergy of dogs. There are several, all very friendly and made me feel very safe at night, but if dogs are an issue, consider staying elsewhere :-).

After a long travel experience Lezard Bleu is one of the best guest houses I have stayed at or maybe THE best. Why? The hosts, Nicky and Chris, give you a very warm welcome and a comfy feeling in a jiffy. They will answer every question, no matter how difficult. They have a sense for the guest´s needs. They will recommend the best restaurant according to your taste and make all the necessary arrangements. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the tree house offers a beautiful view over Cape Town. The location is perfect. It enables you to be first on top of the Table Mountain and it is only 5 minutes to the city center by car. The place is very quiet and surrounded by trees and hidden pieces of art. The breakfast is great offering fresh fruit and vegetable, a great assortment of cheese and sausages , yoghurt , jam, fresh bread, eggs made to order... just all you can think of. The staff is very friendly and your clothes are washed in a blink of an eye. I have been accomodated there twice - and when I will visit Cape Town again I am going to stay at Lezard Bleu.

Room Tip: The tree house is very nice.

We spent 4 nights in Lezard Bleu and il was just wonderful. The room was very nice, confortable and very clean. The location is perfect. The breakfast was delicious. Nicky and Chris are so helpful and gave us so many good advices. We had a great time in Cape Town and they certainly contributed to it. You will hardly find a better guesthouse than this one where you will feel at home.

We were there in June for the first few days of our honeymoon and it was the perfect place to experience our first taste of South Africa. We arrived, very weary, off the red-eye from London and were warmly invited by our hosts to join them for breakfast – which was delicious and made us feel so much better!

The guest house is in a lovely safe location at the foot of Table Mountain, not far from the cable car station, with easy access to the city centre. And it is only a ten minute drive away from Camps Bay – the perfect place to watch the sunset. The house is decorated in strong, bright colours, with lots of local art – a real feast for the eyes! Guests have easy access to the internet and television in their own lounge, and there is a plentiful supply of books about Africa to browse through. The gardens are full of quirky sculpture and exotic plants and it is great to just wander around. In fact the whole place is such a pleasure that is very tempting to just stay at home instead of going out to explore the many attractions of Cape Town!

Chris and Nikki are helpful and knowledgeable and from them we learnt a valuable lesson right from day one: Don’t always rely on the guide books but ask your hosts where to eat. Their advice was always excellent and there are some amazingly good restaurants very nearby. (Specially The Café Paradiso).

The lovely Lizzy made us feel instantly at home and nothing was too much trouble. In fact everyone was warm and welcoming - but then so was everything about Lezard Bleu – whether the doors were wide open letting the winter sun flood in, or whether they were closed and there was a roaring fire in the grate.

We will always remember Lezard Bleu with great affection and happy memories. Also, with lots of gratitude to Chris - for planning the extras!

Room Tip: Go for the Tree House if you possibly can. Though the Corner Room which we had was great.

Lezard Bleu is the place to stay in Cape Town. Everything about this place is first-class, except the price, making a stay at Lezard Bleu a great value.
The owners, Chris and Nikki, are exceedingly friendly and they, along with other staff, make you feel instantly at home. Their attention to detail, from the scrumptious breakfasts to the immaculate rooms, is unparalleled.
This guest house, with its funky décor, is in a quiet and safe neighborhood, close to the city center, with amenities close by.
Cape Town is a beautiful city and staying at Lezard Bleu makes it even better! Do yourself a favor and book here…

We had a lovely time at Lezard Bleu, our son and girlfriend are in the Peace Corps and we met them to travel in South Africa. Our first night here was the first night to meet our sons girlfriend and Chris made it a lovely evening. Fire in the fireplace, wine, and we made arrangements with him for pizza. This was only the beginning of a very memorable stay. Chris and his staff were so friendly and helpful and even sang Happy Birthday one morning for us! Even four months later we are still talking about our trip and Lezard Bleu. Our reunion with our son and meeting his girlfriend was such a great experience and Lezard Bleu was icing on the cake. Thank you Chris and staff!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this guesthouse, in fact this was our second time staying here and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We stayed 3 nights in the tree house - overlooking the pool. Chris, Nikki, their son Robbin and all the staff make you feel at home. Breakfast is lovely and the view in the evening as you sit by the pool, sipping wine whilst looking up at table mountain as it seems to loom over you is fantactic. We highly recommend it!

Spot on, dear friend, Garrett !

I love this and thank you ever so much but you should also read the very first entry from a gentlemen from Boston, still very proud of that one...

Best wishes and a big hug to you and for Joanne a kiss from Chris
