“Nice guest house with fantastic staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2010

Rooms were nice, very clean. There's also a view of table mountain towards the back of the property. The staff here are very nice and accommodating. We needed a doctor one day and they had one sent to our room very quickly. Nice breakfast as well.

Stay here if you want a warm and friendly experience in Cape Town.

My husband and I and another couple recently stayed at the Walden House in Cape Town for three nights. The rooms were fantastic and the main house provided a great sitting area for gatherings in the evening for chatting. Caren and Roxanne, who we communicated with most often, insured that we had everything that we needed at all times and helped with directions and even weather conditions for our outings in Cape Town. This is a central location in order to be able to access all the big sights of the city quickly and easily. The breakfast is good, staff is wonderful, and rooms are charming. A wonderful place to relax after a busy day seeing all that the city has to offer.

We spent our first 3 nights in Cape Town here, it was a great base. The location was quiet overlooking a small park and it was possible to walk to several close restaurants and even in to the city centre. Beautifully clean with a great breakfast. We had a fantastic meal at the Millers Thumb which is very close. Would highly recommend.

We had a very pleasant 3 night stay at the beginning of our trip to South Africa. We were greeted by a very helpful and friendly member of staff and shown to a beautiful and comfortable room. The location was ideal for wandering to restaurants and shops and a short drive to the Table Mountain Cable Car and Signal Hill. Breakfast was substantial and well presented. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite (room 5 I think), despite not being honeymooners! The room was gorgeous and much bigger than the other rooms upstairs. Walden House is in a good location if you are a good walker or have a car, and not too far from a large selection of restaurants on Long Street. As other people have mentioned, try Miller's Thumb, which is just across the road, it's excellent.
There was a great selection of breakfast but don't expect much chit chat from the waiting staff, unless you're served by Francie.
The secure free parking was good.

We stayed for several nights as we started our African adventure. Bright, clean and inviting. Off street parking a plus. A good location for exploring the area. We ate both nights at good places within walking distance. Miller's Thumb was excellent. The staff was helpful with recommendations and suggestions.

We found Walden house to be good location and convenient for sight seeing in the Cape. It is beautiful residence and very clean and friendly staff. Of all the restaurants in close proximity we find Beleza to be best. It was so good food that we went many times. Overall Cape Town is very beautiful.
