I stayed there for about a week in January, 2013. It was my first visit to Cape Town, and the place itself was very nice. rooms were clean, amenities were good, staffs were friendly. Only download, and it was a big one, was its location. It is situated in Woodstock, which isn't considered the most safe place in CT. It's getting better as a new 'hip' neighbourhood they say, and it probably is true. They do have very unique and interesting places around the lodge. But for the first timers who have to go visit those must-see sites, it's a drag to travel those places from St. Georges. Hop on and off buses are there, sure, but it doesn't seem too safe at night. So I ended up taking taxies many times, and it cost me a fortune. For that money, I could've stayed somewhere in the city where more tourists attractions are closer by.
So, if you're a first time CT visitor and is looking to be in the place where it's easy to access all those tourists spots, look elsewhere. But if you have a lot of time or have seen those things already, or maybe if you're an artist who's interested in arts in Woodstock, it's a worth place to stay. Again, the lodge itself is very clean and nice. It's the location that you have to take into considerations. Remember that CT is bigger city than you think, and taxi fares are pretty stiff, especially if you're a backpacker.
