We had heard so much about the table mountains, that we were looking forward to reach the top of the cable car to enjoy the wonderful views that the whole world raves about, but to our disappointment the weather was cloudy and the admission gates were therefore, closed.
On enquiries we found that since the table mountain is at a height, access to them is weather-dependent. It is therefore important to keep your dates and plans for visiting table mountain very flexible.
We kept making persistent enquiries over the next 2 days and we finally heard that the cable cars were now operating we headed straight for the table mountain.
The cable car ride up the slopes of the rugged terrain was comfortable and the experience of passing through dense fogs and clouds very exciting.
On reaching the top, we noticed that the landscape was very different unlike any other place we generally see. The view of beautiful Cape Town down below was stunning and one can truly appreciate why Cape Town is such a beautiful city. God has been a wee bit partial to it.
It is a comfortable walk around the top of the mountain and one can get a 360 degree panoramic view.
We walked around for about an hour, soaking in the great views. Suddenly, a cloud appeared and enveloped the top with visibility dropping to a few metres.
The landscape of the table mountains and the view over the city are truly stunning, Weather Gods permitting.
