“Old world Colonial charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

We spent a night at this charming hotel and I simply loved it!

It has a beautiful old world colonial luxurious charm that is captivating. We had the Robnen Island suite which had glorious views and was spacious with beautifully fitted bathrooms. The restaurants and bar are vibey and trendy and are full of fabulous people.

Lovely location, crossing the road you are in front of the sea, in a nice area ideal for walking or running. Very comfortable and silent room.
The service from the whole staff was perfect and very professional.

This hotel although a little out from Cape Town is a very nice place to stay. The room we had was at the front with an outlook of the sea just what we wanted, the service from all of the staff was excellent the only comment I would say that was not good was the shuttle service it was ok but you had to wait a good while to be picked up which when you are in the middle of Cape Town at night was not great luckily we were spotted by a local police man who stayed with us till the shuttle finally arrived some 45mins after it was requested. I would also state that you would be best to book your own taxi as the company the hotel uses is dreadful and the hotel need to change there taxi service provider with out delay. Other than that the hotel was great.

What a lovely old hotel! Right on Seapoint esplanade. Comfortable bedroom round a courtyard where if weather good have breakfast or lunch. Sunday brunch has a popular jazz band I believe you have to book a reservation for this. This will be our third visit so obviously it must be good. The hotel h as a courtseybus to take you to The Waterfront. The hop on hop off bus stops outside the hotel. Our last visit was Jan 2012.

What a fantastic location, just across the road from the sea. It is some distance from the V&A waterfront (not walking distance really) but the free hotel shuttle makes a visit there easy enough. We stayed in the best suite (room 225) which was amazing, huge lounge overlooking the sea front and 3 separate bedrooms, ideal for a family. It is quite expensive for B&B but it is worth it. The restaurant is lovely, very attentive staff, good food, sensibly priced wines. The bar also serves a good range of light lunchtime meals although the lack of separation between the smoking and non-smoking areas was poor. Breakfast was the best of our trip, buck's fizz, great fresh fruit mix alongside the normal hot and cold options. My 11 year old rated this hotel the best of our 2 week trip. If I am in Cape Town again I will definately be staying here.

This hotel has a good location with lovely views from the front balconies over the Sea Point Beach area The Traffic on the Beach Rd is very noisy however especially at sundowner time which of course coincides with rush hour traffic. The bar area does get very busy with locals popping in for a drink and therefore getting a seat on the veranda can be difficult. Food is just OK and could do with a little imagination. Rooms are small but this must be expected in a city hotel. The price of drinks is expensive. Even if you are a resident in the hotel you will also be charged to park your car in the hotels parking area this is also expensive.

What a pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning/lunchtime. Excellent and plentiful buffet/brunch with more than most could manage. Great music and totally relaxed atmosphere. Bookings essential. Would definitely recommend.
