“Hout Bay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Disappointed to see that the local authority have decided to push the sand dunes back to espose the beach. The sand dunes are Hout Bay, so seems to have changed the whole look and feel of the place. Also felt that the area is very ethnic and felt a bit intimidated.

“A Great Day Out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

Hout Bay is a terrific place to spend a day (or longer). The markets are a draw-card with plenty of bargains to be had - must haggle though! All very bright and colourful. Fisherman's Wharf has arguably the best seafood on earth - grab the furthermost table from the front door for the best views, right in the corner. And try the King Clip (not hake!). The harbour is a hive of activity at the right time and there are plenty of great photo opportunities of the bay and surrounding mountains. The police station being swallowed by the sand dunes is worth a visit if not for the unusual spectacle of just that. And a photo of a young kid with the inadvisable penchant for feeding a seemingly semi-tamed but wild seal bits of fish from his mouth is a must, but he want some sort of remuneration (think I would too).

“booring”

just because there's a man feeding seals at the harbor I had an okay time.. If the day of your visit no boats are sailing off to the sea you will find yourself trapped on this boring bay

“A nice break on the way to Table Mountain Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Hout Bay is worth stopping at on your way down to Cape Point. A visit to Mariners Wharf to see the daily catch in the fish market is interesting. The views from the other side of the bay are even nicer.
