“Well worth a visit on a hot day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

A piece of Forest in the center of the City. wild life to feed, and a great coffee shop/restaurant. Lots of shady spots to hide from the hot sun, or wide green lawns to sun worship on. You can picnic there, with plenty of space. Has a great atmosphere which is perfect for children and family. Buy some nuts and feed the squirrels and ducks that will eat from your hand.

In the garden you will find the IZIKO SA Museum and the planetarium, the IZIKO National gallery and lots of monuments and statues important people of SA history.
take your time and chill out in this garden, nice place!

“Peaceful Stroll”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

A nice place just to stroll, sit on a bench, admire the flowers, just watch out for the oportunist squirrels. If you are walking down from your hotel to the see the sights in the centre make sure your route takes you through the Gardens.

“Peaceful oasis in centre of city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

A stroll through the gardens gives you a taste of old colonial South Africa with its wonderful architecture. Excellent signposting to places of interest off gardens too.

“Great place to walk around”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

A beautiful place to stroll, sit on a bench or have a picnic. Also a lot of history with the Parliament Buildings, Tuinhuys and National Library. There is a restaurant and bird avery. A lot of museums around. You have to find parking on the street (at R11 per hour) but is worth a visit.
