“Great Hotel! Central! Great Stuff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is probably one of the best hotel experience we've had. Nice & small hotel (Soem might say a boutiq hotel), great room, amazing stuff that helped us with all our questions, wonderfull breakfast (Not a one that you expect in a hotel...) - and the location is just great with good restaurants just behind the hotel, parking very close and short cab ride from all the places you need to be in,

It's hard to say enough about how helpful the staff of this hotel are. Every member of the staff will greet you with a warm smile and offer to lend a hand even when they're in the midst of doing another job. These people genuinely care about their guests, no matter how lowly their job may be.

We stayed there twice and also enjoyed the different style that each room seems to have.

Whether you're interested in shopping, museums or seeing the top sites, it's a great location and it's a relatively short walk to just about any site in the city center. (If the modern V&A mall area is your target, though, I would recommend a cab ride however.) Returning to Cape Town, I would truly look forward to being back here.

Unlike many other hotels, we found the WiFi to be excellent in different rooms.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms have a very different style from each other. If you're really interested in c...

Wonderful antique-filled hotel with African touches. Short walk to Long Street, Bo Kap, and many other downtown attractions. Secure parking right around the corner. Easily accessible to lots of great restaurants and bars. Helpful staff, tasty breakfast, excellent local toiletries. I would definitely stay here again.

I'm currently spending my fifth night (out of seven) at this extraordinary hotel within walking distance of the city centre and absolutely love itI Let us count the reasons:

1. Staying here is like staying an artist-friend's house: each public room is filled with local art; each piece of furniture, the color of the walls, the decor convey warmth and welcome; the colorful and neutral beautifully balance each other.

2. The staff are extraordinary and we know them by name because of the little things they have done, that would have simply been shrugged off with an apology had we been in a larger hotel. Take Abdul for example, who got us a room upgrade without hesitation (and at a very affordable difference) when we happened to pass by this beautiful room with a terrace and amazingly gorgeous bathroom on the way to our original room; and then there's Sidney who got us a table at the Bezerca, when the restaurant manager told us it was full until next week, and how did he do it still remains a mystery. He simply smiled and said, "I made them an offer they couldn't refuse." And it is this magical phrase that exemplifies the quiet pride, the amazing humility accompanied by a wink and a smile that made every staff member a joy to interact with.

3. Last but by no means least their breakfast with daily specials -- for example, light crepes with chocolate and banana and toast with cream cheese and bacon were my favorites. But the standard breakfast alone is healthy and satisfying: yogurts, fresh fruit, many kinds of cold cuts and cheeses, and delicate sweet pastries. All of which I should add you have inside a cozy kitchen or outside in the courtyard shared with the Bezerca. By the way, when we slept in late on Sunday, the staff called to find out if we were coming down...again, how could you not love that?

Without doubt, we have to return.

Room Tip: Room 117 is the best with spacious sitting areas, his and hers sinks, a freestanding deep soaking tu...

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! The staff and manager were great and extremely helpful and friendly to us. Breakfasts were delicious and prepared to order . Rooms were beautifully decorated like a page out of African architectural digest. Would definitely stay there if I go back to cape town. This place is a real treat to stay at.

A lovely hotel in Cape Town set around a quaint square. Easy walk to V&A but sufficiently far out to be able to 'get away' from the tourists (like us!). We were up-graded to a suite on arrival - a very nice touch. All of the staff were extremely attentive and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. We have stayed here before and will stay here again.

We stayed four nights in this fantastic boutique hotel in a great central Cape Town location. tastefully restored and decorated with a mix of antique and new african art. Our suite was spacious, beautifully appointed (each room is individually decorated), with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The staff were very helpful and extremely friendly. Breakfast was fantastic with great fresh fruits and superb cooked options including outstanding omelettes. Would highly recommend this hotel, particularly if you want to experience something very different from the bland global chain hotels of the V&A area.
