“Nice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

We've had a pleasant weekend stay at this hotel last November. The price was great (about R750 per night), breakfast is good with many options. The hotel is in central Cape Town, which means you can walk to some of the attractions. The free parking is good, although it is above the 10th floor which means you must drive up circling around for quite a while.

Our 5 nights stay at Parliament hotel was delightful. The hotel is located on Barrack Street. It has a central location and hence, was very close to some of the popular tourist attractions like the Castle of Good Hope, which we enjoyed. There were also the company gardens nearby as well. We booked a Standard double room for our stay. The room was well equipped and had an LCD TV along with a safe. The room had a nice view which we enjoyed. The bathroom was quite clean and had necessary toiletries. The shower had a bit of a problem but the hotel staff took care of it when we told them about it. The staff was very cooperative and hospitable. The hotel also offered us Wi-Fi access which was free and the use was unlimited. The speed was also fine. Even though the hotel was in a busy part of town, we did not face any noise problem because the windows had double glazing. The room had room heaters which worked perfectly. The hotel also offered tour facility so sight seeing and exploring the town was not a hassle for us. The hotel also offered airport drop facility, though it was paid. It would have been nice if it had been included in the package itself. However, we did enjoy our stay here and would hopefully, return next year too.

The room was basic. Shower had hot water or cold water, but I was unable to mix them so had to make the shower quick. I heard street noise from outside so I had to keep the air conditioner on to drown out the noise.
That being said, the staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and I felt quite safe. Free breakfast is included and they even let my friend who came to meet me have a free breakfast too.
The hotel was only about $70 a night, so for that price, you can't expect too much. I was only there for a quick layover, so it met my needs just fine.

We stayed in this hotel because compared to other hotels reviewed on Trip Advisor, this had comments that we liked. Most others hotels had comments such as "unfriendly staff" or "not a nice area" but not the Parliament Hotel. The staff were very friendly and were willing to do whatever you requested. They booked good restaurants for us, sight-seeing tours, taxis, etc. and all with a smile. The rooms were clean, comfortable and with air-conditioning. The inclusive breakfast was served in the adjoining Italian Restaurant and was good. The hotel is very centrally located and the charges are very reasonable.

We stayed at this hotel for over a week. The hotel is located a nice stroll away from Long street and all the museums. The local police station is on the same street and we felt very safe. The staff was remarkable, and hotel was super clean (even more than 5 star hotels in North America).

This affordable hotel is centrally located near the Company Gardens and is walking distance to the Castle of Good Hope, downtown shopping areas, and the colorful Bo-Kaap neighborhood. The staff was incredibly friendly, and breakfast was great. The rooms are just ok, but there is free wifi, a computer in the lobby, and affordable indoor parking. The biggest issue was the showers--each shower has its own heater, and the one in room 501 was extremely difficult to regulate. It varied from comfortable to cold every few minutes, which was unpleasant, and I got burned trying to adjust it. We were moved to a larger room, 503, whose shower temperature was steadier.

Room Tip: 5th floor and above have views of table mountain. 503 is significantly larger than 501 (probably si...
