This friendly hotel is very handy, conveniently central, friendly & efficient service throughout, day & nite, & week ends. & excelent value for money. Especially compared to the waterfront hotels. Restaurant food very good as well.

We were very impressed at the service in this budget friendly hotel in a convenient urban location. Everyone (literally) was courteous and helpful and always easy to access, even despite the slow season. The manager even came our breakfast table in the morning just to chat which was delightful (although I still think he should check out more of the Cape Town Museums- the South Africa Museum and the National Gallery were really fabulous, especially for small-ish institutions). The rooms were very comfortable except for to issues- the showers in the two twin rooms are rather claustrophobic with a bulkhead above, a narrow tub, and a soap dispenser (which should be removed or relocated far away from where you would stand) making it necessary for tall people to squat and large people to run into the shower curtain. A curved shower rod would have helped there too. The sink also made some pretty funny noises while draining. Overall, quite nice for a couple nights.

We had a very nice stay here. The service was excellent, and the rooms were clean. The location was perfect for us, with e.g. The Company Gardens nearby, the sight-seeing buses stopping nearby and a 25 - minutes walk to the seafront.

I stayed at Parliament Hotel for a week as part of my first visit to South Africa after checking out TripAdvisor. It turned out to be a good move, Throughout my stay the wonderful reception staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. My single-occupancy room was quiet and a good size, with a glimpse of Table Mountain from the window. The bed was very comfortable, shower room fine. Minor inconvenience (I have a touch of arthritis) was that the lift didn't go all the way down to the ground floor.
Breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was more than adequate. I ate twice in the restaurant itself. It makes a point of being an Italian restaurant but the menu makes many (probably necessary) compromises with local taste and I found the choice limited and the food average - no starters and only two desserts. Many locals seemed to be enjoying it however and the enthusiastic (Italian) proprietor deserves to succeed.
Easy walking distance to Company's Gardens &c. V&A Waterfront a bit too far for me to walk but taxis no problem (let reception order one for you). I was enchanted by Cape Town and the Cape area. It was a wonderful curtain-raiser to my following 10 days in Limpopo Province and Kruger National Park. Parliament Hotel is great value for money and I'd gladly stay there again.

Kind and sympathic staff. Well cleaned and arranged. Assistance available at needed time.

Only that the restaurant is not wide for choice.

My opinion is based on fact that was my first time to be in Cape Town. I don't have reference to compare with other hotels there.
